            Furman Kearley visited a young man on death row.

            The young man held up a Bible and asked, “Do you know where I got this Bible?”

            Brother Kearley supposed a relative or friend had given it to him.

            The young man explained, “It was in my cell when I came into it.  Can you tell me why they put a Bible in my jail cell and did not put one in my school room or one in my cradle when I was born?” - Furman Kearley, 2-6-87, Freed Hardeman College
