A Call to Worship the LORD

Psalm 100 ESV
A Psalm for giving thanks. 1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! 2 Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! 3 Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! 5 For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Who is Called? v1

All the Earth

Why are we Called? v3, 5

1. Because the LORD is God. v3

LORD is the sacred Hebrew name Yahweh given to Moses a the burning bush in Exodus 3. It means “I AM.”
He is God and there is no other. “I AM” - Self-existent, Unchanging, Eternal
He is the source of all that is good, true, and lovely. We are called to worship him.

2. Because the LORD is Creator. v3

He has created all the earth therefore he has the right to call it to worship him.
He has stretched out the heavens above and laid the foundations of the earth beneath. We are called to worship him.

3. Because the LORD is our Shepherd. v3

For those who have responded to his call to salvation they are his sheep.
A Shepherd guides, protects, and provides. We are called to worship him.

4. Because the LORD is good. v5

He is good all the time. There is a saying, where someone says “God is good” and others respond “All the time” and then it reverses “All the time” “God is good.” We are called to worship him.

5. Because the LORD loves. v5

He is love. His love is steadfast. Steadfast means it is fixed, unmoveable, loyal.
His love is eternal. His love never ends. There is no one who loves you like the LORD. We are called to worship him.

6. Because the LORD is faithful. v5

He is faithful. Faithful means he keeps his promises. He will always come through. His faithfulness never ends.

How are we to come? v2, 4

How many of you have packed for a vacation or a trip?

1. Making joyful noise. v1

2. Serving with gladness. v2

3. With singing. v2

4. With thanksgiving. v4

5. With praise. v4

6. Giving thanks. v4

7. Blessing His name. v4

Bless has the idea of adoration.

The Hebrew word is ba-raku.

To verbally speak with bended knees. Think of a servant before a king.

We bless God when we speak words of adoration to the LORD in prayer, praise, or song for who He is and what He does.

Let’s Worship Him!
