John 9:1–7 KJV 1900
1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. 2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? 3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. 4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. 6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, 7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

I. The clarification v. 1-3

John 9:1–3 ESV
1 As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him.
John 9:1-
A. the question (V. 1-2)
This word for birth is only used here in the New testament
The fact that the man was born blind makes his healing that much more miraculous, this detail is closely related to the length of time the lame man healed earlier had been disabled
-The fact that the man was born blind makes his healing that much more mirculous, this detail is closly related to the length of time the lame man healed earlier had been disabled
John 5:5 KJV 1900
5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
So, the disciples asked him in verse two who had sinned the man or his parents? This question reveals the view of the day that all suffering was punishment for sin. of one kind or another
There is a general connection due to the fall and at times a direct connection between a particular sin of an individual and suffering

John 5:14 ESV
14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “See, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing worse may happen to you.”
but it is not always that way, and it is not our place to determine such.
The belief at the time was that afflictions such as blindness, lameness, or some other disability was either
a punishment for sins of the unborn children committed either in their mother’s womb or by their pre-existent souls

B. The answer (V.3)
John 9:3 ESV
3 Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him.
So, what Was Christ’s answer?
“It was not that this man sinned or His parents but that the works of God might be displayed in Him”
This is the point of life to let the works of God be displayed in us!
rather than being a result of Sin hardship and suffering may be a part of God’s plan to reveal his power.
How does this work in our world today?
“ It was not that this man sinned or His parents but that the works of God might be desplayed in Him”
There are tests that can be done before a baby is born to determine if the child has a physical or mental disorder. when these things are found some doctors recommend an abortion.
Finland for example brags it has the lowest downs syndrome rate and by 2023 it will have completely uprooted downs syndrome in the country,
THis is the point of life to let the works of God be desplayed in us!
what they don’t tell you is the reason is that they are aborting all the children with the disorder.
rather than being a resault of Sin hardship and suffering may be a part of God’s plan to reveal his power.
This my friends are pure evil and goes directly against this passage because how can the works of God be displayed in a murdered child?

secondly what about so-called mercy drugs to kill a sick or elderly person?
The same principal applies, it is not our job to be God it is His, and if we take a life, we do not give him the opportunity to show his mighty works.
The same pricipal applies, it is not our job to be God it is His, and if we take a life, we do not give him the oppertunity to show his mighty works.
What our mighty works?
We think of a miracle but it’s more than that
one person touches so many lives, and we are not God and as long as we are here on this earth he has a puropse for us. even a child that only lives but a few hours or days he has a puropse for

II. The Action V. 4-7

John 9:4–7 KJV 1900
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. 6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, 7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
A. Explenation (4-5)
Before healing the man, Jesus made a general statement about the importance of carrying out the works of God while it was still possible to do so.
The King James uses the wording “I must do the works of Him who sent me.” However, the best translation of this word is “us” this is associating the disciples with Jesus himself notice what the Christian standard says

John 9:4 CSB
4 We must do the works of him who sent me while it is day. Night is coming when no one can work.
John
this is a better handling of the original word that is used.
this is a beter handeling of the orignal word that is used.
Day is the time allotted to Do Gods will the “we” or “us” includes the disciples and all believers. Night is the limit set to do God’s works in Jesus’ case it was his coming death.

John 9:5 KJV 1900
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
Jesus gives salvation and as long as he is in the world, he is the light, but after his death his disciples would be lights
Matthew 5:14 ESV
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Ephesians 5:8–13 KJV 1900
8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: 9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) 10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. 12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. 13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
Matthew 5:13 ESV
13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.
This passage should be a reminder for us to always take opportunities God gives us we don’t know if we will have an opportunity to share the gospel with that person, today is the day to share our faith!
John 9:5 ESV
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
once we die, or christ returns the oppertunity is over.
once we die, or Christ returns the opportunity is over.
Do you take the oppertunities that are givin to you to share your faith?
Do you take the opportunities that are given to you to share your faith?
B. Healing (6-7)
B. Healing (6-7)
John 9:6–7 NKJV
6 When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. 7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.
This is one of six miricles which are unique to John’s gospel the others are
Watter into wine 2:1-11
Officials son healed 4:46-52
Lazaras raised 11:38-44
Paralyitic healed 5:1-13
Great catch of fish 21:1-14
The mud was not used as a medicine jesus could have just spoken and he would not have been able to see, it was more used as a visible show of His power.
It also could have been used as a visible illustration because man came from the dust of the earth.
The pool of Siloam:
The pool of Siloam:
Thew aee a few things here we must note
There are a few things here we must note
Jesus clearly sent, the pool had no healing power
Jesus clearly sent, the pool had no healing power
Naman had objected when elicisa sent him into the Jorden no such thing happends here
Naaman had objected when Elicia sent him into the Jorden no such thing happens here
He came back seeing not because of some mystical power the mud had or that the pool had, but because of His faith
He came back seeing not because of some mystical power the mud had or that the pool had, but because of His faith

Application

If every person is placed on earth for a purpose to let the works of God be desplayed then abortion, mercy killing, or any other killing not directly prescribed by God is wrong (touch on life support
If evey person is placed on earth for a puropse then abortion, mercy killing or any other killing not directly perscribed by God is wrong (touch on life support
Do you take opportunities to share your faith?
Do you take opprtunities to share your faith
Do you have faith as this man did that through God anything is posible?
