Recap:
You were created to know and love God.
Worship, relationship, etc.
God formed you for His family.
You learn to love others.
fellowship, church family
Grow up spiritually and become more like Christ
discipleship
God Shaped me to serve him
there are no 2 people alike.
We have so much unique.
(print - foot, thumb, eye, heartbeat, etc).
No clones/copies in God’s creation.
You are uniquely shaped to fulfill a purpose here on earth.
In heaven, one of the things we’ll do is serve God.
We practice here.
SHAPE
Each of us have spiritual gifts in a unique combination for us.
You’re good at stuff that others may not be.
These are gifts that are specifically helpful for serving in the church.
Heart - what your passion is.
What you love to do.
Some things are really interesting to you, because God gave you that shape.
Some hobbies/interests are the most interesting and some bore you to tears.
Abilities - math, art, speaking, music, mechanics.
We all have different abilities
Personality - different types of people.
Some of you like routine/spontaneity, some of you like working in groups/alone, morning/night, planned-early/last-minute. We need each others’ differences.
Experiences - both your good and bad experiences have helped prepare you for your purpose.
Family/personal/work/chores.
God uses your painful experiences.
He whispers to us when things are good, but he shouts at us in our pain to get our attention and teach us.
God created us not to be a bum and watch tv/play video games, but to do good works.
The word we use to describe the work we do is “ministry”.
Ministry is using your SHAPE to help others in God’s name
Not everyone is a pastor, but everyone has a ministry.
We practice serving others here to prepare for serving God for eternity!
People have a false idea that heaven is just going to be sitting around.
WRONG!
We’ll be serving God using our uniqueness.
It will be the most fulfilling experience ever.
Serve God by serving others.
“done to the least of these, you’ve done it to me”.
You cannot say you love God if you don’t want to serve people.
Serving others is the way we love God.
God has given you your gifts to benefit the world to make it a better place.
And to practice serving God, by serving others.
God shaped you to serve him.
You serve God, when you serve others.
