Transcript
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
Behold, you have driven me today away from the ground, and from your face I shall be hidden. I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”
If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil.”
I am not speaking of all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But the Scripture will be fulfilled, ‘He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.’
And when day came, he called his disciples and chose from them twelve, whom he named apostles:
And they prayed and said, “You, Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which one of these two you have chosen
But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel.
not to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
And he said, ‘The God of our fathers appointed you to know his will, to see the Righteous One and to hear a voice from his mouth;
though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad—in order that God’s purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls— she was told, “The older will serve the younger.” As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.” What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God’s part? By no means! For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy.
Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?
In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
We love because he first loved us.
Therefore they could not believe. For again Isaiah said,
