This Is Love

Psalm 103:3–4 NLT
3 He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. 4 He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
Confession of Faith
I am not moved by what I see or by what I feel. I am moved by what I believe. I believe the WORD of God! The victory is mine! I have it now! I can see it through the eyes of my faith!
This Is Love
Today we want to look at the biblical text that reminds us of The Love God has for each of his children!
Description Of God’s Love!
Question - How do you describe a rose to someone who is blind! How do you describe your favorite son or musical peace to someone who is deaf!
How do you describe an infinite love to a impure-finite human?
Psalm 103:8 NLT
8 The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
Psalm 103:8 NCV
8 The Lord shows mercy and is kind. He does not become angry quickly, and he has great love.
Psalm 103:11 NLT
11 For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth.
Psalm 103:13 NLT
13 The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.
Psalm 103:17 NLT
17 But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children

This Is Love
The knowledge of God’s Love
What do I know of God’s love
Psalm 103:13–14 NLT
13 The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. 14 For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust.
God’s love is all consuming
If you can imagine - as a little boy or girl getting lost in a grocery store- separated from your mother! Everything is so confusing, and you start crying because everyone you saw was a stranger! But all of a sudden - your mother finds you and picks you up - holds you in her arms and your tears begin to dry up, not because of your surroundings, but because of who is holding you!
When you are in the arms of a loving God, it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks of you - it doesn’t matter what the situation is - When you are in the arms of God you have been consumed with his love!
This Is Love
Psalm 103:13–14 NKJV
13 As a father pities his children, So the Lord pities those who fear Him. 14 For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.
Friends
A Vietnam veteran tells this story about an eight year old orphan girl who was wounded after a misdirected mortar attack!
An American Navy Doctor and Nurse were called. They determined that the little girl would die if she did not get a blood transfusion! None of the Americans had the correct blood type, but several of the other injured orphans did.
The american doctor spoke very little Vietnamese and the nurse only a little French!
They tried to explain to the young orphans, that unless they could replace some of the young girls blood that she would certainly die. Then they asked if anyone would be willing to give blood to help
Silence! After several long moments - a small hand slowly went up! Thank you the nurse said and asked the kid what is your name
Heng - he replied
The put Heng on the pallet, swabbed his arm with alcohol and inserted a needle in his vein. That little boy laid stiff and silent!
After a moment - he began to sob, quickly covering his face with his free hand! That turned into steady silent crying - his eyes were tightly shut and his fist in his mouth to quiet the sobbing
The medical team was concerned - Something was wrong! At this point a Vietnamese nurse arrive and saw the distressed in the little boy
She spoked to him quickly and listened to him reply in Vietnamese - she answered in a soothing voice
After a while he stopped crying! She nodded to him and relief spread all over his face!
The nurse said to the American medical team - He thought he was dying! He misunderstood you! He thought you asked him to give all his blood so the little girl could live!
But Why would he be willing to do that? They asked
She repeated the question to the boy in Vietnamese who simply ansswered
“Because she is my Friend”
John 15:13 NLT
13 There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
If you want a visible definition of love - look at what God did for us in Jesus Christ
Romans 5:8 NKJV
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
If you really want to Know What Love Is?
look to the Cross at Calvary
This is the ultimate expression of God’s incomprehensible love to you and me!
The Cross is God’s way of saying I love you so much that I died for you!
This is love!
