Then Everything Changed
The Women Changed
Mary Magdalene;
Joanna, previously housekeeper to Herod;
Mary the mother of James, Jesus’ Aunt
Jesus, who they loved, having come back to them.
Emotions from Grief to fear to Joy.
The 12 Changed to the Eleven
Judas having gone away in remorse for his betrayal
And who were they now if not Jesus disciples?
Peter Changed
Peter had denied Jesus 3 times, just as Jesus prophesied.
Now, Peter may have a chance to make things right.
More Than That, Jesus Changed
In life and ministry:
The Word made flesh,
God with Us,
“The Son of Man”.
This term “The Son of Man” comes from Daniel 7:13 and Daniel 9:25.
He was given all authority over the kingdom and called the Anointed One.
The Angels asked the women why they were looking for the living among the dead.
Jesus if the Living One.
“The Living One who sees me” from the Hebrew Lahai Roi means God who takes up the cause of the oppressed; Gen. 16:14 by Hagar the servant to Abram
Jesus is the Son of Man, God with Us, who is living and sees me as I am.
The Angels said that he was not there that “he has risen!” and reminded the women that Jesus told them that this would happen.
Why would they forget what he told them?
Would you forget that someone told you that they had to die?
The women were so happy at the news that Jesus was raised that they ran to tell the disciples.
But, they didn’t believe the women.
They thought it was nonsense.
Peter needed to know if it was true, but he did not understand what he saw, nothing but the burial linens...
The women at the tomb were certain that Jesus was risen, but Peter and the others were less certain.
It took 12 separate occasions and one where Jesus met with 500 people for his disciples to believe that he was resurrected.
They loved him, they knew him, they heard him speak of his death several times, but yet, they had to see him.
Before we condemn them for not believing, we should ask ourselves if we have doubted any time.
Everything that they had been taught, everything they had seen told them that death is final, there is no coming back.
Jesus did, he always was going to, for us, all of us.
He had to die and be resurrected changed if we were to have any chance to change.
Jesus gave us the chance to change.
Believe it or not.
