Jesus Has Risen Jesus Ha Resucitado

We are Victorious

Somos Victoriosos

Colossians 3:1-4 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
Colossians 3:1–4 KJV 1900
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
Colossians 3:1–4 KJV 1900
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Lucas 24.1–9 (RVR60) — 1 El primer día de la semana, muy de mañana, vinieron al sepulcro, trayendo las especias aromáticas que habían preparado, y algunas otras mujeres con ellas.2 Y hallaron removida la piedra del sepulcro;3 y entrando, no hallaron el cuerpo del Señor Jesús.4 Aconteció que estando ellas perplejas por esto, he aquí se pararon junto a ellas dos varones con vestiduras resplandecientes;
Luke 24:1–9 (KJV 1900) — 1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. 3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. 8 And they remembered his words, 9 And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.
INTRODUCTION: Today, Christians around the world gather to celebrate the resurrection of Christ from the dead. Some in the great cathedrals of the world others huddled in small groups they will whisper the praises of the Resurrected Christ.
Let me start this message declaring what has gathered us here this morning, we believe that Jesus rose from the dead.” (have congregation repeat) The resurrection of Christ from the dead is an essential creed of Christianity. If you do not believe this creed, you are not a Christian.
Hear the words of Paul.
I Cor. 15:17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
I Cor. 15:21-22 21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
Why do we believe in the resurrection?
• Because the Scriptures Declare it
• The History Books Affirm it
• The World is Framed by the Risen Savior
• Prophesy Declared it
Our answer is that Christianity is a reasonable faith.
What does it mean that Christianity is a reasonable faith?
By saying that Christianity is a reasonable faith we are saying that:
• Christianity is a historical faith.
• You can examine history and draw conclusions about the veracity of our faith.
• We believe that Christianity leaves historical evidences of its truthfulness.
SOME HISTORICAL EVIDENCES
The tomb was empty
This Security unit was a fighting machine.
• If the disciples had tried anything, it would have been a “six-second war.”
• One soldier could have dealt with the entire group of disciples.
• He could have single-handedly sent them running for cover.
If the body actually had been stolen
• the soldiers would have been disciplined for sleeping on duty.
• One way a guard was put to death was by being stripped of his clothes, then burned alive in a fire started with the garments.
Dr. George Curie, who studied carefully the military discipline of the Romans, wrote that fear of punishment “produced flawless attention to duty, especially in the night watches.”
The Eyewitnesses to the resurrection
The radical change in the disciples after the resurrection also shows they did not steal the body but were transformed by seeing Jesus alive.
• Previously they had fled for fear of being caught.
• They fled when Jesus was captured in the garden.
• Peter denied Him three times.
• After the crucifixion the fearful disciples hid themselves in an upper room and locked the doors.
• But something happened that changed them (1 Cor. 15:5-7).
7 Después apareció a Jacobo; después a todos los apóstoles;
5 and that he appeared to Cephas,[a] and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles,
The inadequate explanations of the deniers of the resurrection
• They (the Jews, the disciples, the Roman soldiers) stole his body.
• He never really died. He awoke from a coma-like-state and walked out of the tomb.
• The Disciples hallucinated his resurrection.
Where is the Body?
The conversion of Christ haters.
• Paul’s conversion.
Today, we confirm his resurrection. He lives. But for the last few moments let me draw your attention to the RESURRECTED LIFE. The present evidence of the resurrection. Your personal evidence of the resurrection.
THE RESURRECTED LIFE
Let us read Paul’s description of the Resurrected life
OUR RESURRECTED LIFE.
Nuestra Vida Resucitada
Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
What is Paul referring to when he says, “If ye then be risen with Christ,”
• Paul is confirming their salvation.
• The Resurrection of Jesus had resulted in their resurrection.
Lets read some verses from Chapter 2 . . .
Colossians 2:6-15 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
1a If ye then be risen with Christ,
• This is a declaration
• Paul tells the Colossians you have been risen with Christ!
