True circumcision is a spiritual experience of the Heart of man

The Old and New Testament shows us the true implications of circumcision. It also reveals our approach to God and allows our communion with God.

1)   Our approach to God

a) God reveals to us our sin

b)    Allows confession of sin to God

c)    Due to the nature of an awesome God, allows us to approach God

d)    Figurative: Ex. 6:12; Deut. 10:16; 30:6; Jer. 4:4; 6:10; 9:26; Rom. 2:28, 29; 15:8; Phil. 3:3; Col. 2:11; 3:11. A designation of the Jews, Acts 10:45; 11:2; Gal. 2:9; Eph. 2:11; Col. 4:11; Tit. 1:10; of Christians, Phil. 3:3.

2)   Details of the Levitical ceremonies were designed to illustrate the moral implications of the sinner’s approach to God and God’s provision for his people to become morally clean in his sight.

3)   Illustrative of

a)    Readiness to hear and obey. Jer 6:10.

b)    Purity of heart. De 10:16; 30:6.

c)    Purity of speech. Ex 6:12.

In our quest for God there are rules. These rules have existed since He laid the foundations of the heavens and the earth. Thus our approach must be within His guidelines.
