All this week the children have learned, from the Bible, about who Jesus Christ is.
On Sunday night the young learned that Christ is...
The Good Shepherd
We are the sheep; Jesus Christ is the Shepherd, the Good Shepherd.
On the cross, Jesus Christ gave His life so that we might live.
On Monday night, the young people learned that Christ is...
The Bread of Life
In John chapter 6, we learn of the Christ feeding 5,000 people with only 5 little loaves of bread and 2 small fishes.
After that event, the people followed after Him.
However, Christ knew why they were truly following Him...
People all over are searching for that which truly satisfies.
And yet, those things, never satisfy.
Just like physical bread can only satisfy your hunger for a short time, the things which the world offers always leave you hungry.
The deep longings of our heart can only be satisfied by Jesus Christ.
On Tuesday night, the young people learned that Christ is...
The Resurrection and the Life
John chapter 11 recounts for us the death of Lazarus, a dear friend of Jesus.
Before Lazarus’ death, his sisters, Mary and Martha, sent word to Jesus that Lazarus was sick - near death.
They hoped that Jesus would come and heal their brother.
But, Jesus delayed coming for 4 days.
In that time Lazarus died.
I asked this question of the Junior boys that I taught:
Why do we die?
It is because of sin.
When Jesus and His disciples finally went to see Lazarus and his sisters, Martha met Christ and said, “Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother would not have died!”
Then, to prove that He was truly Christ, the Son of God, Jesus, at the tomb of Lazarus, said, “Lazarus, come forth.”
And, Lazarus came out of that grave more alive than he had ever been!
On Wednesday night, the young people learned that Christ is...
The Light of the World
In Luke chapter 18, Jesus passed through the city of Jericho on His way to Jerusalem where He would be betrayed and crucified on a cross.
As he passed through Jericho, he met Blind Bartimaeus.
When Blind Bartimaeus knew that Jesus was passing by he cried out, “Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me!”
We are blind because of our sin.
Our world is blind because of sin.
Jesus Christ, in His mercy, desires to rid us of blindness and give us our sight!
John Newton wrote the words to one of the most well-known and beloved Gospel songs:
Amazing Grace, How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found
T'was blind but now I see
Last night the children learned that Christ is...
The Way
Going to church will not save you.
Giving money to God will not save you.
Being kind to others will not save you.
Being good and trying to do right will not save.
While all of those things are good - we should go to church, and pray, and be kind to others, and do right - those things cannot make us fit for eternity in Heaven.
No you can’t get to Heaven without S-A-L-V-A-T-I-O-N!
Jesus is the way - the only way to Heaven!
So, tonight, the question is simply...
Do You Know Christ?
Give salvation testimony.
