WHEN THE ENEMY COMES

II KINGS 6:15-17

There are always at least tow ways of viewing events that happen in our lives. Here in this story we have a single event, yet how differently two different individuals saw it.

I.                   WHAT THE SERVANT SAW

A.   AN IMPOSSIBLE SITUATION

1.     TOTALLY SURROUNDED

2.     OVERWHELMING FORCES

3.     CERTAIN DEFEAT

B.   FILLED WITH DESPAIR

1.     WE MAY AS WELL AS RUN AND HIDE

2.     WE MIGHT AS WELL SURRENDER

C.   FILLED WITH FEAR (TERROR TOOK CONTROL)

II.                WHAT ELISHA SAW

A.   A SITUATION FULL OF POSSIBILITIES

1.     AN OPPORTUNITY FOR GOD TO PROVE HIMSELF

2.     OVERWHELMING ODDS IN HIS FAVOR

3.     CERTAIN VICTORY

B.   TOTAL SECURITY

C.   FILLED WITH PEACE

Lessons:

1.     Learn to look through the eyes of faith

2.     Learn to depend upon God

3.     Learn the truth of the statement, “If God be for us, who can be against us.” (Romans 8:31)
