I. Christ Praying for Himself 17:1-5

A. The Faithful Son (17:1, 5)

1. Jesus acknowledges through his actions the importance of praying for oneself and their direction in ministry

(1) What he asks (17:1a, 5) Glorify your Son

(2) Why he asks (17:1b) So he can give glory back to you

C. What’s in our hearts when we pray

a) When God to manifest himself in our plans are, it happens when we our plans really glorify and exalt him!

II. The Fruitful Son (17:2–4)

A. Jesus acknowledges that his authority, power and effectiveness is from the Father

1. He has been given authority over all flesh (Humans/Peoples)

a) Rev 5:9 &7:9

2. He has the Power to give eternal life to all that God has given him (17:2–3

a) 6:35-40, 44; 10:25-30. Jesus is thinking of all those who have been given to him in the eternal decree of the father (Elected or Chosen ones).

B. Our prayer life reveals our humility and our willingness to commune with the true source of the life of ministry.

1. He has completed his assignment (17:4)

2. The Power to complete our ministry work comes from the Father
