Humor has always helped persons cope with a police state.  Three inmates in a Soviet prison camp were discussing their offenses.  “I was late to work,” confessed one.  “I was early,” added another.  “They assumed I was a spy.”  The third looked away, “I was on time,” he said sadly.  “That meant I owned a Western Watch.”
