Francois Fenelon was the court preacher for King Louis XIV of France in the 17th century.
One Sunday when the king and his attendants arrived at the chapel for the regular service, no one else was there but the preacher.
King Louis demanded, “What does this mean?”
Fenelon replied, “I had published that you would not come to church today, in order that your Majesty might see who serves God in truth and who flatters the king.”

(A Temporary Need)
ILLUSTRATION — The Best of Both Worlds
A Sunday school teacher was telling the story of the rich man and Lazarus.
She said that Lazarus sat outside the rich man's gate covered with sores and begging for food.
And that the rich man passed Lazarus without even seeing him.
But when they both died Lazarus went to Heaven, while the rich man found himself in hell, which the teacher described most graphically.
When she had finished, she asked the children, “Now which would you rather be—the rich man or Lazarus?”
One little fellow answered, “I would like to be the rich man until I die and then Lazarus afterwards.”

A Satisfied Need
jn
Statement: God saw our eternal need for a Saviour, and met that need 100%
QUOTE:
If our greatest need had been information,
God would have sent us an educator;
If our greatest need had been technology,
God would have sent us a scientist;
If our greatest need had been money,
God would have sent us an economist;
If our greatest need had been pleasure,
God would have sent us an entertainer;
But our greatest need was forgiveness,
so God sent us a Saviour.
ILLUSTRATION: THE GREATEST TRADE OF YOUR LIFE
H. L. Hunt made millions as a Texas oilman.
He was an aggressive businessman with little regard for time.
His chief confidant, John, might be called in the middle of the night as quickly as in the middle of the day.
One night at 2:00 AM, Hunt phoned John.
He excitedly declared, “John, I just made the greatest trade of my life.
I traded the here for the hereafter… I just got saved.”
If you have never trusted Christ as your Saviour, you need to trade the here for the hereafter.
You need to be saved.
It is the wisest decision you will ever make.
