12 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: 2 You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. 3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.

4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

The Difference Between Wisdom and Knowledge.

knowledge- Mastery of a subject or group of facts.

Wisdom tells us what to do with it.

Wisdom with out knowledge is a lack of communication.
Knowledge without wisdom leads to no application.
Proverbs 15:2 NKJV
2 The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.

All of the gifts in there application will be perfectly found in Jesus.

when you look at wisdom the wisdom of the world can be contrary to each other.
in His book The gifts of the Spirit Derek Prince notes that in the King James Bible the only three syllables that word is regeneration.
wisdom is often practical.
Ecclesiastes 10:10 NKJV
10 If the ax is dull, And one does not sharpen the edge, Then he must use more strength; But wisdom brings success.

using the gifts in everyday life:

James 1:5–8 NKJV
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
there are people gifted to intercede for others in prayer. Just because you are not an intercessor does not exclude you from interceding for someone in need.
Just because you are not a preacher or teacher doesn't mean you don’t have to read your bible.
just because you don’t have the gift of giving, doesn't release you from the christian responsibility to give.
Just because you are not a singer doesn't mean you are released from the responsibility to worship.

Jesus and the Word of Wisdom

Luke 5:4–11 NKJV
4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” 6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. 7 So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. 8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” 9 For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; 10 and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” 11 So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.

Peter fished all night and caught nothing.

its important to understand that Peter is not a hobby fisherman like you and I. Peter is a life long multi-generational.
Peter Knew:
how to fish
when to fish
where to fish
when to stop.

Jesus knew where the fish were.

Luke 5:4–8 NKJV
4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” 6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. 7 So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. 8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!”
because Jesus knew where the fish were, He could instruct Peter to fish out of season and get such a big catch that Peter repented.
how do I know it was out of season? the text tells me.
Luke 5:5 NKJV
5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”
Peter had no idea that he was about to be called to be a disciple.
I have been looking at this and i believe that this huge catch provided for the family for three years.
Isaiah 55:8–9 NKJV
8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
Godly wisdom is not earthly wisdom.
Peter did what Jesus said (obedience) and Peter got other worldly results which provided for his family so that he could be obedient.
