Matthew 12:31–37 NKJV
31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come. 33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. 34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Introduction

Those who are growing in the things of God need to be able to do an accurate personal invintory.

We should be able to judge our own works

Galatians 6:1–5 NKJV
1 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. 2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. 5 For each one shall bear his own load.
1 Corinthians 11:28 NKJV
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
To many people in the world are reactive and not proactive. they don't have a desire to examine themselves.
I think many people would rather be shipwrecked for life rather than be wrong for the moment.
correction is good because it means your doing something.
we should want to grow.
Matthew 12:34 NKJV
34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

1. My maturity can be gauged by what comes out of my mouth.

according to the scripture what is in our heart comes out of my mouth.
so i can tell whats in my mouth by what comes out of my mouth.
so I can wrestle with me because of what I say.
not what I say in church, but what I say when i am away from Church.
James 3:4–12 NKJV
4 Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. 5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. 7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. 8 But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. 11 Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? 12 Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.

2. How we treat others matters to God.

Matthew 5:23–24 NKJV
23 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
it’s easy to act spiritual. it’s much harder to be spiritual.
it’s easy to “worship” in a worship service, it’s much harder to worship with my lifestyle.
if I am going to grow spiritually it should be reflected in how I treat others.
Expound Here:
God may one day call you to minister to a parent that, did not play the role they should have played in your life, you might say to me “Bishop you have lost your mind....”
i’m not saying you have to I am not the Holy Spirit.
what I am saying is that you will need to be the bigger person in many situations in your life.
because of the gospel I can:
be a bigger person than people who are supposed to know better than I do.
because of the gospel I can not respond the way that I want to until my Holy Spirit heat catches up with my Hot head.
because of the gospel I can treat people better than they have treated me.
