Think this in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,
who, existing in the form of God,
did not consider being equal with God something to be grasped,
but emptied himself
by taking the form of a slave,
by becoming in the likeness of people.
And being found in appearance like a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to the point of death,
that is, death on a cross.
Therefore also God exalted him
and graciously granted him the name above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bow,
of those in heaven and of those on earth and of those under the earth,
and every tongue confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 This one was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through him, and apart from him not one thing came into being that has come into being. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of humanity. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.
14 And the Word became flesh and took up residence among us, and we saw his glory, glory as of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Before Jesus became a man, he was God. He possessed the divine essence of Godhood. He was equal with God the Father and God the Spirit. Being born as a baby in Bethlehem took nothing away from his deity. It only added humanity. Being fully God, his complete and absolute deity is here carefully expressed by the apostle.

1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other wild animal which Yahweh God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God indeed say, ‘You shall not eat from any tree in the garden’?” 2 The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat, 3 but from the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, God said, ‘You shall not eat from it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die’.” 4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You shall not surely die. 5 For God knows that on the day you both eat from it, then your eyes will be opened and you both shall be like gods, knowing good and evil.”
Which is where we found ourselves failing. Jesus is the new Adam not failing where Adam did. Jesus did not count being a god a prize to be clutched.
But he emptied himself
There is a lot of discussion about what emptied himself really means. but in the context of the letter. we see that emptied himself by taking the form a slave, becoming in the likeness of people found in the appearance of man, He emptied Himself or rank, privilege, and rights. The Lord became a servant.

Because of Jesus’ obedient, self-emptying death on the cross, God exalted him to the highest place of honor. So that the name Jesus will be unique and the name of Jesus every knee should bow as if YHWH was being said.

Quoting
23 I have sworn by myself; a word that shall not return has gone forth from my mouth in righteousness: ‘Every knee shall kneel down to me; every tongue shall swear.’
Jesus is God not a God but God. and the Savior of men and women.
God emptied himself became nothing and we must follow

Go back to verse 5 “Think” this is an imperative. We are to emulate Christ.
problem is that as we follow Christ we sometimes want to follow not the servant part but the LORD. and we try to become like God or gods our self.
Following in the same trap of Adam.
I don’t make for myself a god, but every time you say I know better than God everything you say I can do this without him. OR that I can decide what is right and wrong outside of him. are you not making for yourself a god.
