Introduction:
I love this passage
Philippians 4:6–7 NLT
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Underline His peace will guard your hearts
This is where I want to live
We live in a world of chaos and turmoil
We often feel pressured
We often feel overwhelmed
We often feel confused
It can be about money - ministry - a relationship
If you are overwhelmed confused lost
It’s a good sign that it’s not God
1 Corinthians 14:33 NCV
33 God is not a God of confusion but a God of peace. As is true in all the churches of God’s people,
So if you are feeling confused guess what?
It’s some other voice
If you are ever pressured to “give” to “serve”
As a parent when you tell little Johnny to do something you don’t want him scratching his head wondering what you meant
I work for the Post Office we don’t make sense we make stamps
God does not what you confused either
When God speaks he is clear
Different kind of pressure
However, there comes a time when there is a different kind of pressure can be on.
Underline different kind
Point one

When God tells us to do something

1. God is always at work around us.

John 5:17 NIV
17 In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.”
In this very service across the street in the kid room
There are always ways to serve God.
God never wants us to sit on the sidelines and watch.
Where do you see God at work?

2. God invites us to join him in his work

Philippians 2:13 NLT
13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.
This is what God puts in our hearts
It’s one the joys of life
Who doesn’t want to please God
It’s what God has put us on earth for.
It’s why you here this morning

3. God Speaks to us

Micah 4:2 CSB
2 and many nations will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us about his ways so we may walk in his paths.” For instruction will go out of Zion and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
God does this in a few ways through his Holy Spirit
Bible, Prayer, Church, Circumstances, Impressions
God does all of this by His Holy Spirit
When God speaks it must line up with the 7 principles

4. Then We Have a Crisis of Belief

Hebrews 11:6 NIV
6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
To put it plainly you must decide what you believe about God
Will I trust God and do what he says? Yes or No?
The last point of this is that when we join God we experience him in a powerful way.

What happens when God tells us to do something and we don’t it?

The pressure is on.
My story of my calling to ministry.
Let’s be clear on the difference
If someone pressures you and you don’t have peace about it.
If you feel confused
Overwhelmed
You do what? ______________________________
But if you know that it is God?
God will always be clear
You take the first steps of faith
You don’t have to see the whole stairway
You just have to see the first step.

Are you Under Pressure?

Are on the run? Yes? No?
Do you know the story of Jonah?
Remember God is always at work around us.
