Isolation (Good or Bad? Know the difference)
Lesson OVERVIEW/SCHEDULE
Session Title: , ; . 12:1, 12-14 (Read the 12th chapter entirely)
ession Title: The Root will always effect the Fruit Bible Passage: (CSB)

Note From the Pastor:

All of us are prone to wander and fall, so we need people around us who “say something if they see something”. We need people around us who love us enough to confront us when our hearts are unattended by truth, when our relationships are unattended by forgiveness, and when our decision are unattended by the Lord’s agenda.

General Study:

What is the difference between explosion and implosion?

What does the word Perverted mean to you?

The Key to our strength and power to overcome:

To set ourselves up for an implosion, simply fail to surround yourself with people who allow your life to go off course and deviate from the Word of God.

PRAY: Transition into the session by praying that the Holy Spirit would convict and heal us of areas where we have become isolated.

Small Groups:
2 Samuel 11:1–5 The Message
When that time of year came around again, the anniversary of the Ammonite aggression, David dispatched Joab and his fighting men of Israel in full force to destroy the Ammonites for good. They laid siege to Rabbah, but David stayed in Jerusalem. One late afternoon, David got up from taking his nap and was strolling on the roof of the palace. From his vantage point on the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was stunningly beautiful. David sent to ask about her, and was told, “Isn’t this Bathsheba, daughter of Eliam and wife of Uriah the Hittite?” David sent his agents to get her. After she arrived, he went to bed with her. (This occurred during the time of “purification” following her period.) Then she returned home. Before long she realized she was pregnant. Later she sent word to David: “I’m pregnant.”
:
Question 1: Talk about the glaring problems with David and those who are around him?
Sin will always attempt to cause shame, guilt, and feelings of inferiority.
Question 2: How do you presently deal with areas of your life that have seemingly failed in.
Let’s Talk about it
A.) The Lure of Isolation: Isolation can sometimes look so attractive
B.) Individualism- We live in an individualistic society where the strong prove they are strong by standing alone, by not “needing anyone else”, and by achieving their independent status with their “own genius and grit”
C.) Escapism- The desire to numb our pain can also pull us to isolation.
What’s the Cure?
1.) COMMUNITY!!!
Community can be awkward as well as frighting, but it allows us to confronted and comforted all at the same time.
Key Takeaways:
When David sent Joab away, he quickly imploded. When he welcomed Nathan, he quickly repented. In isolation, David walked in darkness. In community, he walked back into the light. Nathan’s loving confrontation shepherded David away from the darkness he had been living in.
