I like how Bible teacher, Henry Morris, introduces Revelation chapter 19:
“The great conflict of the ages is almost over. Babylon is gone forever, and the nations of the ungodly are retreating to their final stand at Armageddon. The dragon and the beast and the false prophet are themselves en route to lead their followers into the last great battle of the long warfare between heaven and hell…Preparations for the battle are also underway in the heavens. The holy angels are there, and the raptured saints are there, and all have been watching the terrible judgments on the earth, knowing that they very soon will also march forth to follow their Kin as He returns to earth.”
Turn to and read Revelation 19:1-6. Pray.
Sing, “Hallelu - Praise Ye the Lord!”
This word, “Allelui,” or, as we would more typically say, “Hallelujah,” is, in the New Testament, only used here in Revelation chapter 19.
It literally means, “Praise God” or “Praise the Lord.”
Turn to and read Psalm 150.
Psalm 150:6 KJV 1900
Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.
Have you ever been asked to “share” a praise? Have you ever been “stumped” not knowing what to Praise God for? Well, if you ever find yourself in that situation, Revelation chapter 19 can help you out!
Revelation chapter 19 begins with four hallelujahs that are sung from Heaven!

The Hallelujah of Redemption

Revelation 19:1 KJV 1900
And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
Turn to and read Psalm 107:1-8.
Psalm 40:1–3 KJV 1900
I waited patiently for the Lord; And he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: Many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.
Aren’t you glad that you are saved?
I'm so glad, Jesus lifted me, I'm so glad, Jesus lifted me, I'm so glad, Jesus lifted me, singing glory, hallelujah, Jesus lifted me.
If we think that we have nothing else to praise the Lord for, we can always - and we should - praise the Lord for our salvation!

The Hallelujah of Retribution

Revelation 19:2–3 KJV 1900
For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.
Revelation 6:9–10 KJV 1900
And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
The cry of these martyred saints has finally been heard. God’s judgement has been executed resulting in a mighty “Praise the Lord!”
People might be tempted to say, “That’s cruel to be rejoicing in the judgement of others.” However, we must take into consideration two facts:

The Fiery Trial of the Saints through the Centuries

Turn to and read 1 Peter 4:12-19.
While you and I maybe haven’t really experienced a fiery trial in our lifetime, here in America, Christians through the centuries in even in some parts of the world today have and are experiencing great fiery trials of affliction for their faith in God.

The Long-suffering of Our Lord

2 Peter 3:9 KJV 1900
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
For thousands of years, God has patiently been gracious and merciful, extending salvation to all who would call upon Him. (Aren’t you glad that the Lord is long-suffering? Aren’t you glad that He patiently waited until you responded to the Gospel message? Praise the Lord!)
However, here in Revelation chapter 19, the time has come for God’s judgement, and the people of God rejoice. Praise ye the Lord!

The Hallelujah of Realization

Revelation 19:4–5 KJV 1900
And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia. And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
“Blessed is that Christian who gets quiet each day to read God’s Word and pray in order that he might contemplate his Lord’s greatness. To contemplate the greatness and grace of God is to awaken gratitude and praise in every believer.” - Lehman Strauss
Have you ever just been overwhelmed by God’s greatness?
Turn to and read Psalm 8.
I think that we need to be overwhelmed just a little more often, don’t you?!?

The Hallelujah of Christ’s Reign

Revelation 19:6 KJV 1900
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
Psalm 97:1 KJV 1900
The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; Let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.
Why should we not rejoice and shout “Hallelujah?” For thousands of years Christians have been praying:
Matthew 6:9–10 KJV 1900
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
We know that Jesus Christ is Lord. But we question, at times though, why God allows such wickedness to take place in our world. “God, if You are Lord - and we know that you are - why don’t You put an end to all of this?”
But until then my heart will go on singing, Until then with joy I'll carry on, Until the day my eyes behold the city, Until the day God calls me home.
Let’s finish this evening by looking at Psalm 145.
