Reaching the Next Generation
In Mark 6:30–44, this passage details one of Jesus’ greatest miracles, apart from the Resurrection, because this miracle is recorded in all four Gospels
A key verse to focus on today is verse 37: “You Feed Them”
You feed them
Jesus placed the responsibility of the group being fed on His disciples.
This provided them the opportunity to put their faith in God’s leadership of their lives, believe in God to do great things in and through them, and build confidence that God would come through.
This account is more than people being fed; it is an account that God desires to use every person who loves Him.
God is intent that we would see the needs of people and minister to them—to see what God sees and hear what God hears, and respond.
As we respond, needs are met, lives are changed, and God becomes known to others in a personal way.

• Jesus and His disciples did not intend to stop.
They were looking for a place to rest, but people were running ahead of them.
They were not going to just get away.
• Interruptions are not an inconvenience.
Some of the greatest ministry moments as a church and individually come in interruptions.
• Jesus had compassion and welcomed them.
(34) f Although Jesus could have answered the need directly himself, He involved the disciples in finding a solution.
God still does that today with us meeting and ministering to the needs of those around us.

• Even if we are doing Kingdom work that reaches our community, we will never have enough money, resources, or people.
This is why we need His power and His provision.
• Phillip gave them the cost of this miracle—half of a day’s wage.
Phillip unintentionally began to dampen the faith of others.
This is an example of why we must be careful with our words.
• Speak words of faith!
The words we say have a huge impact.
Speak your belief that God will do miracles and that He can and will do a work in your home and your workplace.
• The disciples were coming off a season of numerous miracles.
This is a big lesson for us.
If we don’t remember the miracles God has done in the past or talk about what He is currently doing, we won’t have the faith to see God do miracles in and through us now!

• An amazing part of this account is that the meal consists of flat, three- to four-inch wide pieces of bread and two tiny pieces of fish.
It is not a big meal by any stretch of the imagination.
• Only one person in over twenty thousand people gave their meal.
Remember this is five thousand men PLUS women and children.
• God delights in using anyone who is willing.
He delights to work in you and through you.
God will take what we have and do so much more with it.
In that same spirit, we bring what we want to do for our schools and have to be willing to let God maximize it for His glory

There are twelve disciples.
• Jesus feeds the twenty thousand as well as His twelve disciples.
• God knows!
He knows our smallest need and the needs around us.
As we live with our lives dedicated to Him, He will use us.
He will use you to meet the needs of people.
