Why We Do What We Do

42 Early the next morning Jesus went out to an isolated place. The crowds searched everywhere for him, and when they finally found him, they begged him not to leave them. 43 But he replied, “I must preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God in other towns, too, because that is why I was sent.” 44 So he continued to travel around, preaching in synagogues throughout Judea.

Jesus did what he valued. And he valued what was important to the Father.

Jesus valued time with the Father.

Solitude—Getting away from the noise of life provides the opportunity to hear your heart and the heart of God.

Communion—Knowing God is at the center of our existence.

Prayer—seeking God and His will is more important that asking God to bless our efforts.

Jesus valued obedience over applause

Even though Jesus loved people—he was not a people pleaser.

Sometimes what the crowd wants is contrary to the plan of God.

Jesus valued the message of the Gospel.

For Jesus, the Good News of God’s love was the main thing—every thing He did always pointed to the Good News.

Knowing and sharing the Good News of God’s love must be the main thing for the church.

Jesus valued the lost.

Jesus knew the mission: reach the lost.

The mission of the church is to make new disciples.

The church will die if it does not reach the lost with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
