This this morning as I said, I just have a simple quick word of encouragement for you last week. We talked about a prodigal son. That come to his senses. And had a place to go. Did you go back to his father's home? I'll just I'll just be a Hired Hand. I don't have to sit in the house. Let me sit outside The House Bunny live outside the house. But yet when he was walking down the road the father saw him from a distance and ran and embraced him. This morning I want to talk about. What happens where do we go? What do we do if? There is no place to go.

What do we do if there is?

where do we go? This morning. We're going to be in Luke 24 starting a verse 13.

We're to talk about to two men. that head spent their entire most of their entire lives falling this man that

that change their lives just by what he did and how he spoke.

Start verse 13 now that same day two of them were on their way to a village called Emmaus, which is about 7 miles from Jerusalem. Where's 14 together? They were discussing everything that had taken place just give you a little context. This is resurrection morning says when Jesus is has risen these these two men. They are from Jerusalem. They've been following Jesus for his first three-and-a-half-year Ministry and Chief priests in the leaders They Crucified him Well, if they they crucified the one that were following then what do we do now? I guess we just go back home. We just go back home and go back to our lives because you know, he he tried to put hope and something that we thought was actually going to work and it and it didn't. Until they're discouraged on this on this journey back home. And while they were discussing and arguing Jesus himself came near and began to walk along with them. But they were prevented from recognizing him. Then he asked them. What is this dispute that you're having with each other as you are walking and I stopped walking and look discouraged. Verse 18 the one named cleophus answered him. Are you the only visitor in Jerusalem who doesn't know the things that happened here in these days verse 19 what things he asked them so they said to him the things concerning Jesus the Nazarene who's a prophet powerful and action and speech before God and all the people and how are chief priests and leaders handed him over to be crucified him. But we were hoping that he was the one who was about to redeem Israel besides all of this is the third day since these things happen more over some women from our group astounded us they arrived early at the tomb and I didn't find the body they came and reported. They seen a vision of angels II said he was alive. There's 24 some of them some of those who are with us went to the gym and found it just as the women had said that they didn't see him. First 25 he said to them how unwise and slow you are to believe in your hearts all of the profits of spoken didn't the Messiah have to suffer these things and enter into his glory the beginning with Moses and all the prophets. He interpreted for them the things concerning himself and all the scriptures verse 28, they came near the village where they were going and it gave the impression he was going farther but I urge to him stay with us because it's almost evening. And now the day is almost over so I went in to stay with them. It was as he work lined at the table with them and he took the bread blessed and broke it and gave it to them and our eyes are open and they recognized him but he disappeared from their site. So they said to each other weren't our hearts Ablaze with Wow while he was talking with on the road explaining the scriptures to us that very hour. They got up and returned to Jerusalem. They found the 11:00 and those with them got her to go. Who said the Lord has certainly been raised in his appeared assignments, then they began to describe what happened on the road. How is made known to them in the breaking of bread? When I get back, we have a picture of Emmaus. I want to take you there's one. I want you to see we say that this this is Stone Stone cobbled Road out and what looks like the middle of nowhere. And some and some Backwoods. You know. Two guys are walking down there. They're discouraged there. Probably hot there the walking over just this this unknown Terrain. And this man just comes out of nowhere. What are you? Talking about what are you discussing?

I want to explain to you that Jesus gives encouragement.

In a unique way and his own way. And that he knows how to minister to his child in any situation any circumstance that they find themselves in let me know that we need the encouragement of Jesus because when we need it when we only have the encouragement of Jesus it does something to is it does something to us on the intermittent the inner man that moves us and it propels us for regardless of whatever situation we were in we look at our circumstance. But yet we see the encouragement of Jesus within our circumstance and then we follow the encouragement. Why because there's hope attached to it because it's a promise that he speaks every word. He speaks is spirit and life.

So if every word that he speaks is spirit and life and that means that everything that you go through that he speaks to you can get through.

these two men wer discouragement headset into the into their minds and their hearts How many times is it because I didn't see that they didn't see the big picture. How many times is it that we will take someone up on their word? And then what will believe that word for a time and then when that word doesn't actually come to pass. Discouragement set in I'll hold on you said you were going to do this said you were going to be this.

If you're gone. Yeah, this is you. Don't follow Jesus. They they left everything. They had to follow this man for three and a half years a man that they barely even knew.

But he said there's something going on with this man named Jesus and I want everything he has for me even if I don't understand it.

He told them we all we all know that that Jesus repeatedly in the scripture that says the Messiah the Son of man must suffer many things but on the third day, he'll raise.

Some of us will take his word with a grain of salt. Can I can I really believe that word? Can I really believe that were can I actually put my hope and my trust in a word and but in a word spoken by a man that I don't know.

Or did I barely know or did I barely talk to? Much less a stranger on the road. Hey, what things are you talking about? Some of us in the 21st century. Why should I ask you? Why why why should I why should I respond to you? Why should I answer you? I don't know you.

but there's something about

The Voice of the Lord There's something about the voice of the war that interrupts every current and present emotion that were in. If you're discouraged she brings encouragement. If you have no hope he brings hope into a situation that you thought. I can't make it through the situation. I give you a testimony really really really really quick.

Destiny Destiny knows cuz we we we both went through it. There's a time where? I had I had two days to pay. My phone bill phone bill is $60 and I only work one day. in 2 weeks I work one day and two weeks, but I was faith. I was Faithfully tithing asking the Lord Lord. Faithfully ties I've served why am I in this predicament? Why why is it that you said that you would open the windows and bless me more than more than I could ever think or imagine.

Not take into consideration. I wasn't I wasn't tithing I wasn't Faithfully serving because I wanted a blessing. I just wanted Jesus.

because it doesn't matter what he speaks to me. He doesn't have to speak it all as long as I know that his present is near me. But if I can realize his presence near me that I can also understand and realize he is for me. He is not against me. He has never left me and he will not forsake me.

And so I'm praying and I'm I'm I'm just intensely praying for about a week knowing that I had to pay my phone bill. That's Saturday.

Had to pay my phone bill that Saturday and it was Friday morning. My account was in the negative psych negative $10 and I'm thinking okay. Well, whatever check I do get it. It'll probably be about in the 50s.

Yeah, and Yea Destiny. She's she's trying to encourage me as best as you can but people know that when discouragement sets in it's very difficult to have someone come to you and say hey it's going to be okay. When all you can focus on is hey, there is a specific need and a and a problem right in front of me and that's all I can focus on. when Jesus just longing

to bring encouragement to a moment.

went like I said, it was Friday morning at 8:30, and I'm I am wrapped up in this in this situation. I'm wrapped up in this problem. and I get to work with the just absolute expectation that my my paycheck is going to be $52 or something of that nature and I won't even have enough money to even pay my phone bill and then my bank's going to take out 10-4. For the negative I can so basically I'm just going to be left with $40 phone's going to get cut off and your head. It's okay. Fast Mart was there.

I go going to my boss's office to get my paycheck and I opening up right there. I hear the Lord open it right here. Okay, like I said, I'm still a nervous wreck and 50 $53 ice that's set limit.

What are the check and I could I'd stood there for 10 minutes. Just absolutely baffled. $230

$230 home and my man questions Lord.

I've only worked one day. How does one day equate to $230? They said because you've been faithful.

there's a lot of times where the encouragement that he presents

He will have you walked in faith before you can see and receive.

Because he's not going to give you something. That you are not.

prepared for

sometimes you eating makes us walk in faith and we were asking the Lord Lord. Why why are you having me walk in faith in this I've been I've been faithful to you. I've you know, I've done all these things. But why are you making me wait? Why are you making me wait?

Hey a lot of times we going to prayer we we we thinking we would read it read that scripture ask and it shall be given. Ask and believe you received and I'll be given to you. I'll go only on what I've asked. I believe that I let you know that I believe.

But why am I not receiving it?

Here's why because God wants the glory. That's why he does stuff at the very last second.

Why does some of the very last second because he knows that if he was to respond at the beginning of the week. For a blessing a promise that was set for the end of the week.

I would start to bust. I would start to post a pray to the Lord and he answered me. He's not obligated to answer me. But he does it because he loves me.

So many of us can get discouraged. about finances get so discouraged about okay. If I commit fully to serving in this church, how are the attacks going to too, But I've been I've been burned by Church of in window by people.

How many times?

How many times do we question our decisions? And what about if I do this I do this I do that. How Will I Know You've gone before me that you have my back.

He said because I give you hope. Cuz I encourage you what? What the Lord? How the world will encourage if if the ward is encouraging you? And what that means is he is.

he's called you to a moment that you can list and

he's called you to a moment. You can withstand.

No one. no one there's a lot of times where work work work. We're seeking that encouragement for seeking that help for seeking that promise that answer that response.

And in that process of seeking that response discouragement can can set in. Young Lord. I need you to answer I need to know. I need to know.

and then when the encouragement comes It shocks us.

It shocks us it shock these two men. On the on the road to Emmaus. They said I believe we've lost hope. We lost hope we might as well go home. Yeah, we tried it and I didn't work. Let's go back to what we know.

Jesus does not want you to live a discouraging life is not want you to live a life. That is bored of joy. Any encouragement that Jesus gives is wrapped in joy, and it has a hope because it's attached to a promise.

And whatever he speaks his promises are yes, and amen.

So therefore if his promises are yes, and amen then they are a reality. But you can live in.

I'm going to come to you in an unexpected way in a different form. The different when they saw Jesus is King. Yo, you look back in history. They are occupied by Rome. So they're on the defense sir many other there in fighting stance. I look this man claims to be a king. Okay, he's going to establish his government. Going to stab his kingdom here and now we're about to be set free. No more no more captivity. No more influence. We're about to be a free people.

Jesus comes on a rocky road in the middle of nowhere. As a stranger.

two men he knew above anything else He knew their walk. He knew how much they sacrificed TV new.

Be encouraged this morning.

By your discouragement by your pain.

By that sense of loss. so many of the sleep

We say he's not responding to our pain is not responding to our loss. It must not be valued at. It must not it must not count for anything. I'm not I'm not upset about the right thing.

Rest assured Brothers and Sisters. Jesus is far more concerned with what overwhelms you than you will ever know.

Jesus asked them what things? Okay, I get it. You're you're you're discussing and your arguing. Hey is he really is he really resurrected or is he not I get that? So now I'm going to ask again what things?

Jesus has a different perspective. of looking at trial at looking at the big picture at looking at the did the big reveal.

This man was just crucified three days earlier. Any app pay what things? What things?

He looks so lightly at the suffering because he already knew the joy set before him.

So if he already knew the joy set before him then who are we not to consider Joy all the trials that we go through?

Why should we consider it Joy?

Does he brings the encouragement?

He brings in curtain he brings the hope when he speaks into a moment.

Jesus wasn't asking them repeatedly. Hey what things are you talking about for them to revisit their experience or revisit their pain? No, he was showing them. Hey I care.

Hey your pain in your loss in your failed and failed expectation that matters to me.

Because it matters to you.

It matters to you not understand. Jesus is in his glorified body.

And right now is sitting on the throne.

But yet he still going to ask you.

What things? What things what things are you disputing about? What things are you discussing?

Scripture says he changes not he's the same yesterday today and forever if he encouraged them back then and he gave them hope then that he can give you hope to die.

And whatever circumstance whether it be Financial whether it be a season of a season of worried.

He knew. He knew what you would go through.

You know what she would go through.

That's why this never took him by surprise.

We don't know who you are.

We don't know who you are. But yet you want to ask what things are we talkin about?

Are you seriously the only visitor in Jerusalem I thought he was a visitor Are you the only visitor in Jerusalem that doesn't know what's going on?

You got to be joking.

I guarantee you that is mine is sinking. He's asking why what why would I waste my time?

But now we ask that because he was passionate about what he just experienced. Who's passionate about what he just experienced?

And Jesus is passionate about men what he wants you to experience which is his hope his encouragement and it's Joy because it refreshes you and refreshes you seasons of refreshing come from the presence of the Lord. That's why there's joy in the fellowship as we we keep going.

He said to them verse 25. He says unwise and slow you are to believe in your hearts all that the prophets have spoken. Didn't the Messiah have to suffer these things in enter into his glory. Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets he interpreted for them the things concerning himself and all the scriptures. Read it again, then beginning with Moses and all the prophets. You want to talk about Bible study?

we have enough time. We have enough trouble trying to even understand. And figure out what Jesus is saying even in the Bible study.

But yet he interpreted clearly. unlike any other Rabbi in Jerusalem unlike any other Rabbi in Jerusalem and yet they still didn't know him. student no home

Why do they not know? because of discouragement Discouragement can disable you from seeing clearly who Jesus is. Because you're looking at Jesus through a discourage lens.

Jesus you said you say all these things in your in your word. But I can't really believe that right now because the the situation I'm in books.

That mountain in front of me man. That looks really really really big and I don't know you want to say hey size of a mustard seed move mountains. I think I'm going to need two of them.

Think I'm going to need two of them cuz Jesus I do not have a clue. I am not even going to try to attempt to wrap my mind around.

How you're going to move in this situation?

Filled with encouragement and joy, cuz it's going to overflow. Because God does not know the definition of limit. Jesus said man all things are possible to him that believes.

then that's why Jesus interpreted the scriptures beginning with Moses and all the prophets.

Where they were and they're walking in their journey. I need you.

Realize this in NMB be assured in this be encouraged. There is no area in your walk. and then your life that is inaccessible to him.

So many times and it goes back to the garden. I got to hide Jesus can't see me in this in this position.

Cheetahs can't see me in the in the in the doubtful season of My Life.

There's a lot of times where we we get into a rush. Jesus is encouraging us. He's he's he's giving us joy.

And we remember all I've got to do this I got to do that.

Days almost over after this. I can't I can't stay here. I can always stay in prayer about 10 minutes.

They recognized a very valuable asset.

Stay with us. Stay us King. James has abide with us.

Because what you are speaking is speaking to me and I don't want to rush this process. I don't want to step ahead and say thank you so much for the encouragement. But now I've got to leave.
