When we were last in the book of the Revelation we finished looking at chapter 19 which contains the briefest, most lopsided, most decisive battle that will ever take place on this earth - Armageddon.
We then come to chapter 20 which is simply a continuation of the events of chapter 19.
Turn to and read Revelation 19:20-21.
The events that we have recorded for us in Revelation chapter 20 are extremely easy to understand and to follow.
Let’s look at them.
Satan is bound for a thousand years.
Read Revelation 20:2-3.
While Satan is bound and shut up in the bottomless pit...
Christ reigns for a thousand years.
Read Revelation 20:4-6
The devil is chained for the duration of the Millennium.
Generation after generation is born, and the earth flourishes as it did in Eden before the serpent seduced mankind.
For a thousand years the old deceiver and murderer is chained, and for a thousand years there is heaven on earth.
Satan is loosed.
Read Revelation 20:8-9.
Satan is allowed to lead one last and final rebellion against the God of Heaven.
This will be the war to end all wars!
I love how John describes the outcome in vs. 9:
“…and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them...”
Satan is cast.
Finally, Satan will be defeated for all eternity.
He “…shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
I believe it is important to point out that 3x in this short chapter, Satan’s deception is pointed out; in vs. 3, vs. 8, and vs. 10.
Throughout mankind’s history, deception has been Satan’s mo - mode of operation.
We’ve been considering this deception - and the ensuing corruption - on Sunday mornings.
We can never let our guards down.
We need to guard our eyes.
We need to guard our ears.
We need to listen to our early warning system - the Holy Spirit.

What makes the difference between those “cast into the lake of fire” and those who are not “cast into the lake of fire?”
It all has to do with that little word, “whosoever.”
Those who never met God’s terms of salvation—faith in Christ’s finished work—will not find their name in the book of life.
They accordingly will be “cast into the lake of fire.” - Dr. David Sorenson
Let’s make this personal.
Who do you know that has not “met God’s terms of salvation?”
Who do you know who, unless they put their faith in Christ’s finished work, will be cast into the lake of fire?
Does that bother you?
Does that bother me?
For those who are lost, the prospect [of Revelation 20:15] is horrible.
For those who know Christ, it is wonderful.
I rejoice in the Lord patience.
I grew up in a Christian home.
I grew up attending a Bible-believing, Bible-preaching, independent Baptist Church where I had many opportunities to hear the Gospel.
I grew up attending a Christian school where I was consistently and continually pointed to Jesus Christ.
And yet, it was not until the summer after my sophomore year of college that I finally heeded the words of Romans 10:13.
You testimony may not be like mine but do you have a testimony - a testimony of having called upon the name of the Lord to save you?
It behooves us therefore to reach and win as many as we can to the Savior while it is day.
The night cometh when it will be too late.

Turn to and read Romans 10:14-15.
Are you - am I - are we proclaiming the Gospel message of Jesus Christ?
Are we being faithful to proclaim the good news?
Paul said...
But that is where our responsibility ends; we are to proclaim the Gospel.
It is up to each person to determine how they will respond to the Good News.
This morning was “Happiness Is” Sunday at Lancaster Baptist Church.
Both Jeremiah and Mollie, who work at the same Chick Fil A, invited some of their co-workers.
These co-workers came to the service and then Jeremiah and Mollie took those co-workers to lunch.
Jeremiah had asked us to pray as they were going to share the Gospel while at lunch.
What Jeremiah and Mollie did, in inviting their co-workers to church and taking them for lunch to share the Gospel could be the difference in their “whosoever!”
