It is important that we see the authority of Jesus in all things. Here Jesus shows his authority in teaching, over sickness, and demons. It’s important to see that He does this so we see His authority over all things including sin and the ability to forgive us of sin.

The Rabbis usually quoted other rabbis, quoted others teaching. However the teaching of Jesus is one that came from in Himself.
Yet the Lord warned Israel and Judah by every prophet and every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes, in accordance with all the Law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent to you by my servants the prophets.”
Who was it that told the seer’s what to say? Who was it that gave the law, that sent servants and prophets?
It was Jesus, God incarnate that had done this, of course His teaching had power it emanated from Him.
How do we approach the Bible? Do you read it? If you do, do you spend time before asking God for direction, reading then meditating on what you have read, praying over what you have read.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
Do you recognize that the bible is the word of God and that it has authority, it has the power to change lives.

Jesus rebukes the fever that is on Peter’s mother in law, as if it’s a living thing.
Not only is she healed, but she is well enough to begin making food for them. The authority that Jesus poses isn’t just enough for cause the fever to go away but to restore her to full health.
Have you ever considered the complexity to healing? Doctors don’t heal, they give you medicine to kill off the bad stuff and allow your body to heal.
Jesus not only removes the infection, but replaces and heals the cells that are damaged. A healing miracle is demonstrating the very power of creation.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Jesus made all things, of course healing is going to be easy for Him, He was the creator from the beginning.

v.36 “for with authority He commands the unclean spirits to come out!!”
Satan likes to play up the amount of power that he has, especially in the media. It isn’t a battle over good an evil, Jesus demonstrate authority over all.
Power over darkness, this hadn’t happened before. They had incantations that the would recite to try protecting people, but someone who had authority to command was astounding.
When they came out, Jesus could command that they would be silent, and they would.
It always seems like all the powers of darkness were converging on Jerusalem in the days of Jesus.
He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
This is speaking of the work on the cross, Jesus broke the power of sin and darkness and removed the power that Satan had with His work on the cross. In the beginning of Luke we see the battle beginning, we see Satan taking shots at Jesus through temptation then Jesus moving to the point of assault using His authority to free people from the possession that some were cursed with.

I’m not saying that one who is saved can be possessed, but sometimes the enemy is working among us.
Some in the church are sheep, some are wolves.
Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them.
Don’t take doctrine at face value, study the bible so you know what you believe and why you believe it. It will be by watching doctrine that wolves will be discovered. DON’T BE LED ASTRAY

They know that Jesus is God, but they won’t submit to His authority. They won’t acknowledge Him as their Lord.
You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!
If you believe, you’ve made it as far as a demon. You need to come under the authority of God.
Trust in the one who has authority over all things believing in the word that He has given us, knowing that he is a loving a personal God who is here to meet you in your time of need.
