John 5:1–9 NKJV
After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath.

Amazing story, this man had this condition for 38 years!!!
How do you think he got there?______________________? Group Discussion
And that day was the Sabbath.
This man probably made assumptions that his condition would never change after 38 years you think the abnormal is normal.
Have you ever made any assumptions about anything that you later found out were not true? __________ Group D
If you live thru life with a habit for 38 years you learn to adapt and make it normal yet God doesn’t want us to settle or believe things will never get better, don’t settle for the broken marriage because it has been that way for many years or that breakthru that you have been waiting for… even though someone would take this man to the porch no one can move and make you have faith and action.

God is faithful and He promises that He will restore to you… years that were lost… could it be that we have lost years and time because we have settled and not believed God for more? _____________Group Discussion
Does anyone want to share a redemption story or moment from their life? _________________Group D
Jesus sees and ask this man a question… “Do you want to be made well?”
Why do you think Jesus asked him this? ____________ Group D
The man first made an excuse no one can help me.... do we often blame others for our lack of faith?
Jesus pretty much said… don’t wait for others if you want to be made well…GET UP!!!!
One word from God can change anything… don’t let what’s crippling you… like the man… be your prison.... the mat he laid upon became his comfort his prison, he conformed to his situation
Do you want to be made well?
Don’t wait for others to help you don’t blame others for not being there...
Trust the word of the Lord! Get up ! remember faith alone isn’t enough we also need to do our part...
