Examining Your Worship
Lets talk about that word Worship, what is worship exactly
Is it sing or dancing ?
maybe it is praying or studying the bible
the definition of worship is
noun
the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity.
"the worship of God"
verb
show reverence and adoration for (a deity); honor with religious rites.
"the Maya built jungle pyramids to worship their gods"
we as Christians tend to overlook the aspect of worshipping and tend to think it is just something that we are forced to do.
but the that is false doctrine when you think that you are forced to worship.
Worship is the one true way to show God that you are thankful for the things that has been done for you.
When we worship it also serves as a public declaration of faith.
as youth that could be the scariest thing.
The way you worship is up to you.
Your Worship is Personal
In many story throughout the bible we see that people worship God in their own personal way.
The highlight of this passage is Jesus was born, but what I would like to focus on is the three wise men.
These men had a personal desire to see the Lord.
They had made a personal decision to seek Him out.
They had made personal sacrifices so they might come to where Jesus was.
They were not content to simply hear of Jesus or talk with those who had met Him; these men were determined to meet the Lord personally.
I know this is hard to grasp, but if they were to worship the Lord in a personal way, then they had to go worship in person!
when our worship is personal and we chose to sacrifice everything we have for God is means that much more to us.
When you earn something that you put your time and effort in to it becomes important to you.
you are more willing to show it off.
what having a personal attachment to something it holds a place in our hearts that cannot be deferred by anyone.
without having a personal relationship to God and the willingness to not care what your friends think when it come to worship the youth group/ church will never grow.
Is your Worship personal?
Paul is talking here and is saying that we should be willing to present ourselves to God. we should not care about what others are think or how others might judge us.
Example: singing in church
He talks about how we are to be a living sacrifice to God, we are to be holy and pleasing to God.
Refer to Dealing with difficult people.
Take up your Cross
The cross that Christ had to carry was about 300 pounds in weight .
Imagine having to carry 300 pound for miles after being beaten to near death.
when think about that taking up you cross does not seem that bad.
Only you know what your cross is like.
you know that weight of it , the height of it.
only you can take it up.
you are the only person that knows what it is you have to do to enter what true worship looks like.
