The general call goes out to many: Come to Jesus, be saved,

If the general call was all that was needed, surely the Jews of Jesus time would have been saved.

Jesus gave the general call over and over, and they killed Him

A Heart Transplant

Regeneration is the work of the Holy Spirit to unite the elect sinner to Christ by breathing new life into that dead and depraved sinner so as to raise him from spiritual death to spiritual life, removing his heart of stone and giving him a heart of flesh, so that he is washed, born from above and now able to repent and trust in Christ as a new creation.62

Moreover, regeneration is the act of God alone and therefore it is monergistic in nature, accomplished by the sovereign act of the Spirit apart from and unconditioned upon man’s will to believe.

In short, man’s faith does not cause regeneration but regeneration causes man’s faith.

The Effectual Call

But as man by the fall did not cease to be a creature endowed with understanding and will, nor did sin, which pervaded the whole race of mankind, deprive him of the human nature, but brought upon him depravity and spiritual death; so also this grace of regeneration does not treat men as senseless stocks and blocks, nor take away their will and its properties, neither does violence thereto; but spiritually quickens, heals, connects, and at the same time sweetly and powerfully bends it, that where carnal rebellion and resistance formerly prevailed a ready and sincere spiritual obedience begins to reign; in which the true and spiritual restoration and freedom of our will consist.

In a moment, after the general call, God sweetly and powerfully conformed us into a new creation

The call is Irresistible to the Bride

The call is what we have been looking for our whole life

the call is from the creator of the universe, “I want a relationship with you”

“I am molding you, bending you, shaping you to be like my Son Jesus”

I chose you, not because you were good

not because you were talented

not because you were just what I needed

I chose you because I love my son and want to give Him a Bride

Because I love you and wand to shower you with my mercy and Grace
