Jesus Will Save the Elect

John 6 37-40 none will be lost
John 17 Jesus prayed for the elect that we would not lose our faith
Phil 1 6 God will see His good work through to the end
Romans 8 28-30 “The Golden Chain.” Those whom God foreknew, predestined, called, and justified will be glorified. Every link in the chain is forged by God 1
1 Schreiner, T. R. (2012). Promises of Preservation and Exhortations to Perseverance. In M. M. Barrett & T. J. Nettles (Eds.), Whomever He Wills: A Surprising Display of Sovereign Mercy (p. 192). Cape Coral, FL: Founders Press.
we are preserved By the Hand of God till the end
But what about all the warning passages in the Bible about losing our salvation?

Some Warning Passages

Revelation 2:7 AV
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
we have to be an overcomer
Colossians 1:21–23 AV
And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
2 John 7–9 AV
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
Everyone who goes ahead and does not remain true to what the Messiah has taught does not have God
The reward here is salvation
all these warnings are real, if Jesus said “ I will not let go of you”
why the warnings?

A Better Understanding

Turn to Acts 27: 9
Read 9-24
all hope is lost
God said that all would be saved
Paul has to stand before Caesar
from this verse we know no one will die from the wreck
read 25 -32
a warning against dieing
Dint God say all would be saved?
now there is a warning against the sailors leaving the ship
there are now works to accompany the promise
cut the ropes, ensure every one stays in the ship
Colossians 1:22–23 AV
In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
The warnings are the means to which we are kept
We will heed the warnings
Matt 7 15-20 talks about fruit and good tree produces good fruit
We can’t say: “Since I am elect, I can ignore the warnings and admonitions in scripture.” For election is proved and demonstrated by one’s perseverance. One confirms one’s call and election by doing the will of God

Berkouwer insightfully remarks on the subject. “We will never be able to understand these words if we see the divine preservation and our preservation of ourselves as mutually exclusive or as in a synthetic cooperation. Preserving ourselves is not an independent thing that is added paradoxically to the divine preservation. God’s preservation and our self-preservation do not stand in mere coordination, but in a marvellous way they are in correlation. One can formulate it best in this way: our preservation of ourselves is entirely oriented to God’s preservation of us” (Faith and Perseverance, 104). He also claims, “Preserving ourselves does not imply that we contribute our part and that God contributes His. Our preserving is oriented to His, and it is included in it. Faith can never say, and will never say, ‘This is our part’

the warnings are the means to what keeps us to the end
God ensures that the warnings are Kept
Just like we needed a change from total depravity that only God can do
these warnings are unless God intervenes on our part we would never do
So what happens to the apostate?

The Apostate

someone who publicly denies the faith and anything to do with Christianity
so someone who we thought was saved. now has nothing to do with...
maybe a pastor, Sunday school teacher ect
1 John 2:19 AV
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
Turn to Matthew 7 12
V 15 eventually you will see the real person
V 21 some are really going to fool us, but not Jesus
I never Knew you the same as the the foreknowledge of God
God Knows us, or not
V 21 only those who do what the Father wants
John 6:28–29 AV
Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
These people were doing their own good works
They looked very Godly casting out demons
healing, doing great miracles
prophesying in the name of Jesus
the wheat and the tares
Conclusion
Our preservation by God
He will never let us go
Jesus has prayed for us that we wont lose our faith
And our Perseverance is also from God
the warnings against apostacy are very real
and if we don’t heed the warnings we will apostate
But the warnings He gives, He will ensure that we will follow them
Without the help of the Holy Spirit we all would be in a death spin
Heed the warnings and be grateful
