Hope is on the Way

19 Then Jesus entered and passed through aJericho. 2 Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to bsee who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up 1and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, 2make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” 6 So he 3made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully. 7 But when they saw it, they all 4complained, saying, c“He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.”

8 Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the dpoor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by efalse accusation, fI restore fourfold.”

9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because ghe also is ha son of Abraham; 10 ifor the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Introduction: To be successful you must be able to do whatever it takes to get there. Sometimes, it you have to do things that will stretch you and things that will make you uncomfortable. Success comes from the Lord and it also depends on 1. How determined you are. 2. It depends on if your willing to think outside of the box. 3. Can step outside of your comfort zone. 4. Are you willing to take monumental action. 5. Are you willing to Follow up and Follow through. The truth is Success is bound in faith.

11 Now faith is the 1substance of things hoped for, the 2evidence aof things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.

2 Or confidence
In this text we find a very successful man, by any standards. We find in the text a man called Zacchaeus and he was a Chief Tax Collector and He was Rich.
1 realization
Tax collectors generally obtained their posts from Roman authorities through a bidding system. They often made sizeable profits by levying higher taxes than Rome required. Consequently, Jews regarded Jewish tax collectors as traitors and as members of the lowest level of society.
Zacchaeus belonged to the dishonourable band of tax collectors, who often swindled people out of their money, combining threats with deceit. Such was the occupation of this rich man. He was a chief tax collector, and he would have been familiar with local Roman dignitaries. He had perhaps all but forgotten his Hebrew roots in the mad search after money. Yet the Lord was already at work in his heart for he wanted to see Jesus. This travelling teacher intrigued him. He wanted to see Jesus .

How Determined are You.
The New King James Version. (1982). (). Nashville: Thomas Nelson.
1. How Determined are You.
His Status did not overcome His Stature. What he has can not overcome who he is. His money could not help him get cuts in line. Folk are acting like it black Friday and they look at Zacchaeus like get in line. His money could get him in front in the crowd. His money couldn’t get him in the VIP section of the crowd. His money could get him on the red carpet.
If you’re going to see Jesus, you’re going to have to overcome the obstacles.
If you’re going to see Jesus, you’re going to have to maneuver around the mob.
If you’re going to see Jesus, you’re going to have to conquer the crowd.
Whatever is in your way from seeing Jesus, your going to have to be determine to see. My determination dictates the success of my situation.
2. You’re going to have to think outside of the Box and he steps out of his comfort zone.
Look at what Zacchaeus does he runs ahead of the crowd. He doesn’t walk by faith, He runs by faith let me tell you why it is faith. Jericho is a city and i’ve been there Jesus could have turned down the street, he could have went another way. Look at Zacchaeus he is not only running but he climbs a tree like he is a little kid. He is a grown man climbing a tree. He has thrown his status out the window, because he wants to see Jesus.
He Climbs up a tree. He levels up so that he can see Jesus. I believe Zacchaeus starting sing Pass me not O gentle Savior hear my humble cry while.
Jesus and Crowd are coming down the road Zacchaeus is up in the Sycamore tree.
Jesus does pass by the try.
He comes to the place.
He comes to the place.
He looked up and He saw Him and He Called him by name!!! Zacchaeus is having a Tasha Cobbs moment you know my name.
God know your name!! He knows your situation.
God will met you right where you are!!!! He tells him Come down, for today I must stay at your house!!!
So he made haste and came down, and received Him Joyfully!!!! I can tell if you have received Jesus or not when you receive him it gives you Joy!!!! See you don’t have to be pumped and prime when you have received him!!! you already got Joy because, you already have him. Many of us can not receive him because our hearts are hard.
People will show their true colors when you receive Jesus. look at vs 7.
He says Look Lord!!!!
You can’t call him Lord unless
