Intro

Thank about that concept “unlawfiul possesion”. That phraise implies that there a possible situation where this thing couyld be possesed lawfully aswell.
Take a firerarm for instance. Its just a thing. But it is possible to posses one both lawfully and unlawfully.
If you have a licence then its lawful for you to have one, and this is because in getting a lisence you need to take tests and exams to show and prove that you know how to use it, keep it, clear it and own it.
unlawful possesion means that you just have it and you dont know how to use it or the rules around onwing iot and you probibly dont care anways.
Morphine.
When used to treat pain is lawful. When used to get high is unlawful. - The proper use of the subtabnce is what determins whether its lawful or unlawful.
Thats what we are looking at todY.
i can say: “we know that Morphine is good if a man use it lawfully.” - amen.
well look at 1 tim 1 8
1 Timothy 1:8 AV
8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
If you give morphine to somein pain - ius that the right use? yes
If you give morphone to someone who is not in pain - no.
Ok, wioth all this said lets reveal our muystry word.
1 Timothy 1:8 AV
8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
1 Timothy 1:8–9 AV
8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; 9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
Its the law, and look at verse 9:
Remember what we said about morphine?
Morphene was made for people in pain and its lawful to give people in pain morphene.
Well the law was made for sinners and its lawful to put them under the law.
BUT, remeber morphene was NOT made for people in no pain and its unlawful to give people without pain morphene.
Well, the Law must never be placed on the righteouss, its not for them.
So who are the righteous?
Well lets first start with the lawful use of the Law and then we will move onto its unlawful use.
What is the purpose of Morphene? When A pewrson is in pain, they need morphene to help them.
When A pewrson is in pain, they need morphene to help them.
In the same way, when a person is a sinner, ungodly, they desperatly need the Law to help them.
Let me ask you a question: What is the purpose of morphene? -
So now i will ask another question:
Galatians 3:19 AV
19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
We have already seen that the Law is Specifically made for Sinners, like morphene is specifically made for pain.
But what does the Law actually DO for those sinners?
Lets keep rerading:
Galatians 3:19 AV
19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
Galatians 3:20–25 AV
20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. 21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. 22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
It was added because of transgressions. What does this mean? It means that the purpose of the law was to tell people that doing these things was wrong and sinful.
Romans 7:7 AV
7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
rom 7
Romans 7:13 AV
13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
And look again at Galations:
rom 713
Galatians 3:24 AV
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
gal
The Law shows the sinner that he or she is guilty of sin. That is the point of the Law, thats it purpose - to make sin sinful.
To break and smsh down the walls of self righteousness and pride.
Sinners and the ungodly need to be brough low in humiliation because of their sins and the Law is the rightful, purposeful tool to accomplish this.
And when applied to a sinner it is the lawful use of the law.
To bring themn to their knees in repentance beforer God, that they might call upon him for mercy!
, so if this is the rightful or lawful use of the law, then what is the unlawful use of the Law?
Well back to our morphene alangoy: Giving mnorphene to people in pain is lawful, but giving morphene to people who not in pain is wrong and unlawful and as we have seen:
1 Timothy 1:9 AV
9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
1 tim 1
Who is the righteous man?
Well, first off, no one is naturally righteous.
Romans 3:10 AV
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
So this means that the Law is for EVERYONE, every singhle human being is born under the Law.
But, while we all may be born under the law as sinners. we cannot forget that some people have been born again.
And when you are born again, you are no more under the law but under grace.
Romans 6:14 AV
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
What does it mean to be under grace? What has the grace of God done for us?
In Gid’s grace, through the Work of Jesus Christ and our faith in Him. God hasnplces the righteousness of God and imputed it to us, through our new birth.
Philippians 3:9 AV
9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
So now, if you are born again. You are non longer a unrighteous sinner. You are now a righteous chiuld of God.
Which means - that the Law can no longer be used oe applied to you. Doing so would be an unlawful use of the law.
This is exacally what happned in the book of acts.
Cirncumcision is in the Law of Moses and all Jews were required to have it done. But when the gospel of Jesus was being preached, many gentiles were being born again.
But since many of the first converts were jews, there was confusion over this issue.
Acts 15:1 AV
1 And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.
acts 10
These certan men, were putting righteous born again christruians, under the law.
Acts 15:24 AV
24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:
acts 15
acts 15
Look at Peters respoce to these men:
acts 15
Acts 15:10 AV
10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
Christians do not need the Law, since the Law has already done its job and brought them to Jesus.
But, the question is often raised: Will a no law existance not create a lawless life?
And the naswer to that question is a reasounding no.
Why? Because the person who has come to christ is NOT the same person that was guilty of all those sins under the Law.
2 Corinthians 5:17 AV
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
The heart of the Born Again beliver has been chnaged tghrough a miricle.
Ezekiel 36:26 AV
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
The heart that wants to lie, that enjoys fornication, the heart that used to delight is filthy jokes and sinful habits - that heart - out of which all sin flowed - that heart has been made new.
We now have a heart that loves God, seeks his will, delights in His presence, we have a heart that seeks holiness and righteousness NOT sin and evil.
A christian who lives in lawless sin - is BNOT a christian, they are imposters.
For even as Jesus said:
Matthew 7:16–20 AV
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
What fruits? The fruits of repentance.
I needed the law to bring me to christ, and i love the Law. But as a christian it is unlawful to place myself back under it.
What about you?
