11 I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. 12 I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds.
Luke 22:19 ESV
19 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
1 Corinthians 11:23–25 KJV 1900
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
ἀνάμνησις a-mom-ne-sees
exact Word is used four time in the Entire NT
Word has two different uses rememberance and rember
it is a noun
It is sigular
it is feminene
means simply to rember something to recall to memory
This is why we partake in the Lords supper....to remember his death
throught this year we are also going to look at three additinal aspects of the Lords supper
The Lords suppper is for rememberance
The Lords supper is for proclaiming His death
THe Lords supper is for Self examination
THe Lords supper is for Tnanksgiving
but today we see rememberance
1 Corinthians 11:23–25 KJV 1900
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
1 cor 1:23-
1 Corinthians 1:23–25 ESV
23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
I Recieved from the Lord (V 23)
1 Corinthians 11:23 KJV 1900
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
Paul tells the corinthian believers that he has received special revelation from the Lord on this matter.
Revelation
General
Psalm 19:1–4 ESV
1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. 2 Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. 4 Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun,
Romans 1:20 ESV
20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

Special
Hebrews 1:1–3 ESV
1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. 3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

The Bible
After receiving this special revelation he tells the believers that he is passing this information on to them
Some comentators think paul means here that he has received a triddition that goes back to the Lord, but that seems highly improbible as paul had receaved other rvelation from the Lord why would this instence be triddition
II. The bread (V.24)
1 Corinthians 11:24 KJV 1900
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
1 cor 11:34
Those that believe the bread and wine become christ would point here and say see… the word is is used here.
hwever Christ is using a medephore, do we honestly think christ broke off a finger and said here eat this…
Do this in rememberance of me..
THis is not an option
THis is not a choice
This is a comand
III. The Cup
1 cor 11:35
1 Corinthians 11:25 KJV 1900
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
After they had taken the bread he took the cup this would have been one single cup they would have shared amongst themselves
New testement in my blood
This implies the ushering in of a new age, although the church age did not officialy begin until pentecost christ was shoing the start of it here
the word covenent here implies a last will and testment
He was doing this as the final thing before he went to the cross.
Do this in rememberance of me
He again states that this is to be done in rememberance of Him
1 Corinthians 11:26 ESV
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
How often should rememberance happen
The Bible does not say anything other than the fact it should be done regulerly.
each church has to determine what that is for them
for some that is weekly
for others it is monthly
for others its quarterly
for some its twice a year
and for some it is only once a year
Bottom line is it should be a regular occurence
What now
Are you comming ti the Lords table and remembering what he has done for you?
