This letter is written to a group of first-century Christians who were in danger of giving up.
It is clear from a casual reading that the times were hard for Jewish Christians especially.
Many of them have been exposed to fierce persecution.
They had been physically assaulted, their homes had been plundered; some had been cast into prison on account of their faith, other had been ridiculed in public because of their resolute trust in Jesus.
Many of these Jewish Christians had accepted all this adversity joyfully.
But others had "shrunk back" from their earlier allegiance to Christ and became apostates.
Without going that far, others were in danger of compromise.
The letter appeals to all these severely tested believers to keep their faith firmly anchored to the moorings of the truth, to maintain their steady confidence in Christ and to press on to mature Christian stability.
The author presents Christ a superior person, a superior priest, a superior sacrifice.
Because of His superiority our faith is sufficient.
The writer gives us the nature of faith as well as some examples.
Basis of His Faith

Noah although he did not see any signs of the impending danger, trusted God.
Sometimes you have to trust God even when you can’t see Him.
defines what the real nature of faith is.
Motivation of His Faith
Noah’s faith was motivated by his reverent fear of God.
Noah had a proper respect for God.
He reverenced God
Expression of His Faith
Concern For Family
Noah expressed his faith in his visible works.
He builds an ark.
A large boat with great capacity for live cargo.
300 cubits 1 1/2 football field.
50 cubits high 30 cubits wide.
He did it despite ridicule.
He did it though it seemed impossible.
He was working out his salvation.
He did not sit in the house talking about how much he loves the Lord or how well he know him.
He visibly worked out his faith.
How are you expressing your faith?
Means of His Faith
Noah’s faith was the means condemnation and inheritance.
His faith found the world to be definitely guilty.
His faith caused him to be an heir.
There are two ways to become a heir.
Heir- a person who is entitled by law or by the terms of a will to inherit the state of another.
We have be justified by faith.
We who were guilty have put on Jesus righteousness.
Just as God provided and ark to save Noah and his family.
God has also provided a Savior for us today.
He didn’t give us an ark.
But He gave us Jesus Christ.
The one who is able to keep us alive.
He saved Noah physically with ark.
But he has saved us spiritually through Jesus.
Therefore, if we believe in Jesus and put our trust in Him, God promises us salvation.
We are no longer guilty, but have inherited His righteousness.
And we are now guaranteed eternal life.
Be not dismayed whatever betide
God will take care of you
Beneath His wings of love abide
God will take care of you
Through days of toil when heart doth fail,
God will take care of you;
When dangers fierce your path assail,
God will take care of you.
All you may need He will provide,
God will take care of you;
Nothing you ask will be denied,
God will take care of you.
