THE GOSPEL: WHAT WE BELIEVE

Romans 3:21-26

The Gospel

The just and gracious God of the universe looked upon hopelessly sinful people and sent His Son, Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, to bear His wrath against sin on the cross and to show His power over sin in the resurrection so that all who have faith in Him will be reconciled to God forever.

The just and gracious God of the universe…

n God is Creator.

n God is just.

n God is gracious.

…looked upon hopelessly sinful people…

n We have rebelled against God.

n We are separated from God.

n We are dead without God.

…and sent His Son, Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, to bear His wrath against sin on the cross and to show His power over sin in the resurrection…

n Jesus’ life displayed the righteousness of God.

n Jesus’ death satisfied the wrath of God.

n Jesus’ resurrection demonstrated the power of God.

…so that all who have faith in Him will be reconciled to God…

n God is the giver of the Gospel.

n God is the gift of the Gospel.

n God is the goal of the Gospel.

…forever.

n The risk…

4 We can know all of these truths and still not be saved.

n The reality…

4 Our eternal destiny hinges on a biblical response to the Gospel.
