We proclaim the Lord’s death and life and ...

When we gather around this table to remember our Lord’s death we do well to remember that:
We remember in obedience to Christ’s command.
1 Corinthians 11:24–25 ESV
and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
We remember our Lord’s in the context of what the Scriptures teach us about His death.
Atonement
Justification
Propitiation
Reconciliation
We remember to proclaim Christ’s death until He comes.
Jesus died once and for all. There is no more sacrifice for sin
We remember His broken body and shed blood
Jesus died, rose from the grave and is coming again.
We remember the sufficiency of Christ’s death with regard to salvation.
We are saved by and through Christ alone.
Not Christ and the church and the saints or the intercessory prayers of others.
We are saved by grace alone through faith alone
Not faith plus works.
Not grace plus the sacraments
We believe that this is only for God’s glory.
Not the church or others who were involved
We do not give thanks and glory to pastors, priest, departed saints or church leaders.
We understand that the word of God, only the Scriptures - sola Scriptura - is our final authority for faith and truth, for the Gospel.
Not Scripture plus:
NOT Other religious books or “revelations” - Talmud, Religious publications, Book of Mormon, Quran,
NOT the consensus of groups of men who disagree with, take away from or add to the word of God- councils, denominational leader, statements of faith, courts, governments ...
We are committed to obeying God rather than men.
Acts 5:27–29 ESV
And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest questioned them, saying, “We strictly charged you not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.” But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.
