Topic/Theme: Faith
Pithy Statement: See Today's Focus
Purpose: Faith can be seen by actions.
Other: Read "Right with God" ed. by D. A. Carson (did it)
Notes: In "SVU Law and Order" television show, the former attorney who was in the the Witness Protection Program, came out to testify against against the man who attempted murder on her. What got me was there is a scene where the lady is talking with the lady cop about how her roles had reversed. She made a statement like how she was always ready. She never went in the court room as an attorney without a plan. But now was she was an actual witness, and she could be as prepared. It got me thinking about a work ethic. As a communicator, it is good to be prepared with something, but I admit there are times when I have not been as prepared as I should be. Like today.

I was teaching an old sermon, but it found some things that were added like faith is also risk, and that threw off my lesson, because it was not on the plan, but seemed to be more accurate than the old definition I had on the old lesson. However the good part is I didn't go off a planned tagent. I wanted to stay focused. I only had one tagent going toward the illegal immigrants from Mexico going to America. I don't know if I should have piggy backed it, but I did.

For the lesson to have been more clearer, I should had made the Today's Focus as this:  Faith’s design is trust, rsisk, assurance and a commitment to God. I also went through each story and commented on them. One option I could have done was give my definition of faith, and see if any of the charateristics were in the stories. The way a person can know if they are living the faith is if they using their role to advance the Kingdom of God.

A few illustrations were William Carey and Marriage is trust. I also talked about how some Christian have a misconception of faith.

It is always good to write out the lesson and a fluffy conclusion is good for the end.
