BBBI - 2019.12.11 - PM - Exodus Overview
Take your Bible. If you wouldn't join me in will begin in 1st Corinthians chapter number 10, but we're going to make our way over to Exodus tonight don't have a an in-depth verse-by-verse Exposition necessarily tonight as much as I have kind of an overview part 2 part 3 part though is Prelude through Exodus as I'm still working on some pieces of that. But I do want you to see some things tonight or we find the Lord Jesus Christ woven throughout Exodus. And so you're in 1st Corinthians chapter number 10. And I for a few moments we'll look at some verses in Exodus that were given for our example after we read this first and then if I get done in enough time tonight, but I'd like to do is take a few moments to reiterate the Bible Institute that we have an answering questions. You might have about that and then to also given encouragement to those who are enrolled in classes and different things that have outstanding assignments to give you a little bit of a year in goals for work on getting all that stuff done for a year. So that will help me out as I administer text 1st Corinthians chapter number number one where the Apostle Paul record these words moreover brethren. I would not that you should be ignorant. How that all our fathers were under the cloud and all passed through the sea. What is he referring to their? Remember the cloud and passing through to see what is Paul Rec. And all were baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea. And did all eat the same spiritual meat. When was that? The wandering contrite and old did drink the same spiritual drink or they drank of that spiritual rock that followed them that rock was.
Christ did Paul find Christ in the book of Exodus. You sure did. And we can too. But with many of them God was not well-pleased. Were they were overthrown in the wilderness? Now these things were our example to the intent. We should not lust after evil things that they also left it neither ve idolaters. Is that cold to mind any section of Exodus particularly chapter number 20 and the verses that say thou shalt have no other gods before me neither were some of them as it is written people sat down to eat and drink and Rose up to play. It's not very far from Exodus chapter number 22 chapter number 32 that you have the incident of the golden calf. And they're already keeping that out. The Jesus is going to be born for thousands of years after the Exodus in Christ. 1st Corinthians 10 is where we started but we're going to go to Texas 1st Corinthians 10. I'm reading inverse number 9 Christ. So Christ was there leading them through all of their Journeys as they came out of Egypt and they tempted him they were destroyed of serpents story himself in John chapter 3 when he was discoursing with Nicodemus. You said you even as a serpent Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness even so must I the son of man be lifted up. I will draw all men unto me.
So the Serpent's looking live all who look upon that brass serpent that Moses fashion by they were able to escape death neither murmur murmur and were destroyed of the Destroyer boys, like destruction after destruction heartache after heartache. As they were just delivered out of Egypt and now they face all these consequences because of their unbelief.

There's few there be that find that way but there's a broad way that leads to destruction and we see that so with that in mind what Paul encouraged this with to find Christ in the wanderings to find Christ in The Exodus account before we dive into full-blown exposition of the book of Exodus. Verse by verse that is looking as we've done all the way from Genesis. I want to take this moment tonight cover some passages where I think it's adamantly clear abundantly clear that we can't help if we have any spiritual discernment of we cannot help Jesus Christ Our Savior woven throughout the Book of Exodus. It's so in numerous places. I do see our Lord Jesus Christ prefigured here in this book of Moses. The second book of Moses called exit and so we turn back there and look at Exodus chapter 1 in Burke number one thing that I dropped your attention again that I have noted before with you in a previous message. The very first word of the book the second book of Moses called Exodus. The very first word is now that's a good translation. It's a conjunction you could render it and but it wouldn't give it the full force of what we need in English because the word now speaks of sequential events. It's the same word as translated in Genesis chapter 1 verse number one.
What's the Lord got it may now these are the names. And so we have the name Exodus in our Bible here that I guess the scholars Woods to tell you that it it was taken from the Greek Septuagint title for the second book of Moses in Exodus or or Escape. If you will have going out the Hebrew title for the book of Hebrews always title their books after the first line in the first words of the book and so now these are the what the name Lisa Bonet So now we get to connect back to Genesis. Don't we see the full context? Let's remind ourselves. Genesis has a a break between chapters 11 and 12. Chapters 1 through 11 of Genesis cover the creation account all the way up to the dividing of the Nations that takes us all the way through the through the creation of the corruption and the worldwide flood all the way up to the nation's being divided the Tower of Babel leave this up to a man named Abraham the first 11 chapters in chapter 12, we find it Abram Abram is his name had been changed after that point by the Lord was called out of order of the county. And he's is Sojourner Pilgrim all this life and he's promised by God the abrahamic Covenant.
God gave the song The Rainbow the token that he would no longer he would not ever again flood the Earth and destroy. It was a worldwide flood know the next judgment will come with fire and brimstone according to the Apocalypse in Revelation. And so abrahamic covenant chain and Genesis chapter number 12 in the promise the land we had four major Patriarchs that we study Abraham the father of juice Nation the founder of Spanx. And that's a promise would continue through behind the son of promise and through Isaac. We have a type of Christ. We have a picture of Jesus Christ in that day when he was on the Altar and Abraham had his hand raised in the Lord stayed his hand. There was a rama that they so we see the picture of Jesus Christ Horizon Jacob the younger would overpower they'll the elk and so the prophecy was given to Rebecca while she was giving birth. To Jacob and Esau that's a promise would pass to the younger son and through the course of events. We see Jesus Christ throughout the Book of Genesis Angel if you want to call and let the man that Jacob wrestled with through that night when you said I've seen God face to face there are times when we can look through the Book of Genesis and see the Lord Jesus Christ Abraham He had milk his attack and he worshipped milk is the Haven possible. So as we watch for Jesus Christ, we see him throughout Moses write about Jesus Christ. Remember what Jesus said in John chapter 5 Moses and the prophets. You should see me. He took Isaiah 53 that passage of the suffering servant and Priests unto him Jesus. And so is Paul looks at the book of Exodus and Leviticus Numbers Deuteronomy. He says Christ is there they tempted Christ and Christ is seen in numerous places and we can see what's going on. You remember the promise was made to Abraham that his descendants would be would be in it. Don't get confused with number some some have a difficulty understanding the 430. That's that Steven references and Paul references in Galatians and the 400 setup for there's no contradiction when Abraham was called out of Earth 430 years to the time when the promise was made that's 400 years.
I would be persecuted actually for that 400 years to be fulfilled. When did they go down to Egypt? It was according to the promise of God through famine. If we turn to the end of the book of Exodus chapters in Exodus by the time you finish Genesis and exodus you will have covered 90 chapters in your Bible. So this is no small Endeavor to look at the Book of Leviticus. We can see glimpses of Jesus in Exodus and I want you to I want you to be able to see Jesus in your Old Testament particular in some of these packages were going to look at so the question supposed to be tonight in our brief study is what pictures I won't take too much of your time here tonight. So Moses goes back and forth with God on that call and let him know just as well as anybody couldn't that day? But God said alright have it your way. Daughter you better than that so you see even Providence working through Moses and his very life. So the place come you have God trying to reach Pharaoh giving him every opportunity and Pharaoh hardened his heart hardened his heart and it comes to the end where he finally says, okay, you guys can go and then

Did Moses calls or call the Elders of Israel and said unto them draw out and take you a lamb according to your families and kill the Passover and you shall take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood out at the door of his house until the morning for the Lord will pass through. Who's coming through Jehovah? It's all caps in my body. The Lord will pass through to Smite the Egyptian when he see it the blood upon the little Inn on the two side post the Lord will pass over the door and will not suffer. It will not permit. Do not allow the Destroyer to come in your house and you shall observe this thing for an ordinance to be into that Sons forever. We see Exodus describes Forest at Passover Lamb. Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. Remember the testimony of John the Baptist and even Paul tells us in plain words Christ Our Passover is sacrificed for us. So what a picture we see Christ as the Passover Lamb set the first picture that I would throw you something. We read John chapter 1 want to turn over and set your eyes on these persons. It might do well John chapter. Number one and first number 29.
The next day John sees Jesus coming on to him and say it behold who? in what is this Lamb of God do

If you look from Exodus chapter 12 turn ahead to check the number 16. We see if they go on their Journey. Through this chapter. They took their Journey from Elam all the congregation. The children of Israel came out of the Wilderness of sin, which is between elim and Sinai on the 15th day of the second month after they're depart another land of Egypt whole congregation children-israel. They were so happy to be there.
I'm kidding. It doesn't say that it says a murmur. Wait a minute how long it would look at that. This was the 15th day of the second month after 15 days into months.
Since I just saw all that water as walls and walk through 2 months and 15 days what happened 2 months and 15 days ago. I don't know, but it's pretty close to when we were just in the park having Church December this September past two months and they're already going. You are looking at the wrong source. But my father gives you the true bread from heaven for the bread of God is he was coming down from heaven and give us life then said they had him.
Jesus said unto them. I am the bread of life. So who is our man in from Heaven who is our bread of life?
And he that believeth on me shall never thirst. Nothing that through.
And it won't be long maybe for 6 hours later their tummies going to be rumbling ignorant again and Jesus the same if you just believe anymore.
What does it mean? Does he mean physically you won't hunger anymore? No, it means that deep down thirsting of your soul that void that vacuum that you haven't used that you're trying to fill that hole and nothing ever satisfies. I know that I live with for 14 years of my life. I could never find anything to fill it until I came to Jesus and I found this is that you believe not what can't the children of Israel wandering for 40 years until their carcasses fell in the wilderness. unbelief, what drove this crowd away from Jesus this day because they ended the bread and was filled and he started saying these hard things they believe not Silverleaf with shower all the father gave his name shall come to me and him that cometh to me. I will in no wise cast out before I came down from heaven. Came down from heaven because he wasn't born of a man. He was born of the Virgin Mary conceived of the Holy Ghost. He came from heaven. This is the father of all this is the will of him that sent me everyone believe it's on him may have everlasting life and I will raise him up at the last day and then the Jews did what? Sounds like Exodus to me.
Egypt
They left him that day they went away from you because they could not receive his words. They couldn't digest the man. He's the brave. So Christ is the living bread that came down from heaven water from The Rock. This is singing Exodus 17 verses 1 through 7. You know, this account is amazing amazes me right after everything's fine in the number 17 by that time. They're already there already done in you see the the water from the rock chapter 17 verses 1 through 7 all the congregation.
Why would Lord lead into a place like that? Well, you said you can approve them with Amana.
Where did the people tribe was Moses? Where were the people did God with Moses?
Moses isn't called the shots.
Moses said unto them before you tempt. The board member Paul's words that tempted him in the wilderness. He draws it right from this passage in the people thirsted there for water and the people murdered in our children are cattle with the Earth.

Living Water so was Iraq smitten. He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities by his stripes. We are healed and that rock was smitten. Now Moses messed up the second remind me he was supposed to speak to the second time. You didn't that's what bar them from going into the promised land. Where do we see a picture of Jesus Christ in the Passover Lamb in the bread that came down from heaven in the rock that was smitten and bring forth water. What a picture but I saved list of Living Water fourthly Exodus Tabernacle Tabernacle from the Tabernacle Tabernacle. Christ is greater than the Tabernacle want you to look at Matthew chapter number 12. Matthew chapter number 12 looking for pictures of Jesus in Matthew chapter number 12 and verse number 6 Jesus. Of the high priest but if we go over Hebrews chapter number for I see what this is a picture of remember the things in the Tabernacle were patterns of things in the heavens that had to be Clemson Purge. So what are those things in the heaven? Well, we turn the Hebrews and we find we have a great high priest. Who is touched with the feelings of our infirmities? He was tempted in all points like a sweetheart it without sin Let Us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find Grace to help in time of need the Lord Jesus Christ Exodus describes the glory of the Lord well with his people Israel the Glorious seen the Shekinah was in the pillar of fire in the pillar of cloud. The Shekinah Glory was seen to rest between the wings is cherubim on the cover on the lid of that Ark of the Covenant The Mercy Seat of God. In Exodus describes the glory of God turned Exodus chapter 40. Exodus chapter number 40 Andre Whitney beginning and verse 34 then a cloud-covered the tent of the congregation. And once filled the Tabernacle.
the glory of Jehovah the Shekinah is the Hebrew word. the glory field I can't even imagine what that would have been Moses was not able to enter the Tabernacle Choir was on it by night in the sight of all the house of Israel throughout all their Journeys testified to the fact that Gordon was sitting right on top of that tent over there testify today. That's power. description of God's glory John chapter 1 Christmas time so we'll go to verse number 14, you know that first then you could probably put that first John chapter one tells us about the beginning in the beginning was God and the Word was with God. God was the word Moses think what he can say it. The beginning was the word. The word was with God Word was God saying with him in him was life in the life was the light of men the light shineth in darkness and the Darkness comprehended it not there was a man sent from God.
He was not that capital L light but was sent to Bear witness of that. This is what his name is capital l. With every man that comes to the world he was in the world.
And the world knew him not. He came to his own and his own received him not.
As many as received him to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even them that what there's that word again. Believe on his name which were born you see you believe in your born or not of blood nor the will of the Flesh of man would have got to talk about the glory of God in the Tabernacle. What pictures do we see? If Jesus in Exodus verse 14 reading out loud with me and we beheld his glory we beheld his We beheld his what we beheld his. Glory We beheld the suprime Johnson assault. The Incarnation of Christ that we're celebrating this Christmas, he's actually work the scribes his glory the glory of God, but Christ is the glory of God incarnate.
