today’s Text:
Isaiah 41:10–14 NKJV
10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ 11 “Behold, all those who were incensed against you Shall be ashamed and disgraced; They shall be as nothing, And those who strive with you shall perish. 12 You shall seek them and not find them— Those who contended with you. Those who war against you Shall be as nothing, As a nonexistent thing. 13 For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’ 14 “Fear not, you worm Jacob, You men of Israel! I will help you,” says the Lord And your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

A look at the “nots” and the “I wills.”

Isaiah 41:10 NKJV
10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

We are told to fear Not!

we are told to be Not dismayed!

what I s fear?

FEAR Emotional foreboding or dread of impending distress or misfortune. Often spoken of as the cause of people wanting religion. Yet fear alone can never account for true religion, since men are impelled to draw near unto God, the object of their worship. One does not desire to come close to the being one fears.

The biblical conception of fear embraces a much wider dimension than does our common English word, which simply denotes dread or terror. While this meaning forms an essential part of the scriptural picture, it is by no means the primary significance, especially when the fear of God—an awe-inspiring reverence—is referred to.

The Biblical concept of fear denotes Dread or terror

In Isaiah 41:10 we are told that God is with us.
where does your confidence lie?
do we understand that as Christians God is with us then we are not alone:
Daniel knew that God was with Him in the lions den.
Shadrack, Meshack and abendigo knew that God was with them in the fiery furnace.
Stephen saw Jesus standing at the right hand of the Father.
Jesus was present in the boat so God calmed the water.
Jesus was present on the water so peter was able to get out of the boat.
the presence of God makes all the difference.
Psalm 51:11 NKJV
11 Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

what is it to be dismayed ?

Dismayed-Overwhelmed, shocked.
I am your God.
whatever it is we are in Christ!
we have promises that will take us through.
the problem with many Christians is we dont want to go through anything.
if you come from my tradition your rebuking what the spirit is causing us to embrace.
Philippians 4:6–7 NKJV
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
how are we going to have peace which passes if we don’t go through anything that would cause people to see a peace that passes.
God will use these times to draw people to the prince of peace

The “ I wills” (the promises of God)

I will strengthen you.

1 Peter 5:6–7 NKJV

Psalm 121 NKJV
A Song of Ascents. 1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. 6 The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. 8 The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.
your help comes from the Lord.

Psalm 46:1–3 NKJV
1 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3 Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah
