Setting The Scene

Many followers of Jesus stopped following because it became to hard
they stopped because all they wanted was a hand out
to get some thing from Jesus, not to give
John 6:66 AV
From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
not all that follow are followers
Chapter 8 in the temple Jesus repeatedly told the leaders who he was
culminating with
John 8:58 AV
Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
telling them I Am God
before Abraham was I Am there, right now
I have come from Heaven, the Father
I Am Jehovah God
I Am the Messiah the chosen, Anointed one from The Father
I Am the one the prophets told you about
so what did the religious leaders do?
John 8:59 AV
Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
They hated Him so much that..
tried to kill him
at that time Jesus left the temple, so he would not have been stoned to death
people are rejecting Him
Jewish leaders want to stone him
But Jesus is going to continue to do The Fathers will
To continue

The Mission Of Jesus

what is the mission?
Luke 19:10 AV
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
the lost are those that have no hope
the lost are those that know if they died today they would be in hell
the religious leaders are not lost — they have a self righteousness
Luke 18:10–14 AV
Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
the rulers are exalting themselves, and don’t want Jesus treading on their party
The mission of Jesus is to Redeem His bride
This man is one of the chosen ones
John 9:38 AV
And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
Jesus escaping the the pharisees stopped and gave grace to this man

The Grace of God

escaping stoning
our compulsion would be get as far away from here
but Jesus stops at this blind beggar
John 9:1 AV
And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
Why this man and not all the rest of the beggars?
this man could not see Jesus
did not call for Jesus
did not expect anything from Jesus
certainly did not deserve anything from Jesus
But
this man is one God chose to heal
this man is one God chose to be the bride of His Son
this man is lost without hope/ thus he is one that Jesus came to seek and to save
Gods grace is not extended to every one
Romans 9:14–16 AV
What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
Mercy and grace is at the will of God who he shows it to
and God is showing mercy to this man
Jesus is willing to stop escaping the stoning threat behind Him to show grace and mercy to this one man
why because its the will of the Father

Theology of the Sick

John 9:2 AV
And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
some teachings of the day
parents pass down their sin upon the baby
the fetus sins in the womb
reincarnated paying for past lives sins
but we do know that is is the cause of all sickness
hurt, disease, cancer, covid19
Romans 8:22–23 NKJV
For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.
the Fall caused death,
but instead of having a theological argument Jesus simply states
John 9:3 AV
Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
the fall caused this man to be blind

The Orchestration Of This Mans Life

we have many examples of God orchestrating the lives of men and women in the Bible to do a job
Joseph
born of the favorite wife, favorite son
hated by his brothers because of that
sold into slavery
bought by an Egyptian official
able to decipher dreams through Gods knowledge
made prime minister under Pharaoh
saved his people from starvation
brought his people to Egypt - to separate from the Canaanites
Joseph summed up his life in these 2 verses
Genesis 45:4–5 AV
And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt. Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.
God orchestrated my life to save yours
Others Esther, Ruth, David, Samuel, John the Baptist, Saul/Paul
So Lets Get Back to the blind beggar
John 9:3 AV
Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
this man knows human suffering
human cruelty
banishment
to be in total dependence of others
and now Jesus has singled him out For Gods Glory
God is going to give him a radical new life
not only heal him physically but spiritually
make him a new creation
As far as we know this man after this chapter is never mentioned again
reading this chapter we know this man is bold in telling others about his savior
but let us put our imaginations to work as this man becomes a part of the church
his knowledge that the Father taught him about life as a beggar
but now this man has been given a new life
a supernatural love
a supernatural compassion
what better of a man could you find to minister to the needy, the beggars, the blind
with all that God gave him could he not say the same thing as Joseph
Genesis 45:5 AV
Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.
or something similar
the joy this man has cannot compare to the misery he had, Especially in eternity

Bringing it Home

before Jesus reached down and took us into His Kingdom, we brought a life full of knowledge
this knowledge our experiences’ can be used now, for Gods glory
from your life- how can you minister to others
there are people from your past and present walk of life that will listen to you and no other.
but if your mouth is closed how can they hear?
from what you are going through now how can you minister to others- for the glory of God
Maybe you are still blind Spiritually, and Jesus has just stopped in front of you, and he is kneeling and making healing mud to put on your eyes
don’t let this day go by without putting your trust in the finished work of the cross
If you are listening today and you are not a christian
Jesus mission on earth was to die on the cross in the place of us
all of us guilty of sin
Romans 3:23 AV
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
to take our punishment upon his body-
Romans 6:23 AV
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Jesus died for us, was buried in the grave
and was resurrected the third day
Ephesians 2:8–9 AV
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
