Today is what we call Christmas Sunday, where we all celebrate the birth of Christ. It was approximately 2000 years ago when Jesus was born in that manger. Born from a virgin, with God Himself as the Father.
I. LUKE 1:26-38 Mat 2:1-8
A. Jesus existed in heaven before His birth on this Earth.
1. In (John 1:1-2, 14) “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2) The same was in the beginning with God. (14) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.” (KJV)
a. The word “Beginning” here means “Beginning of all, origin.”
b. . God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit have always been.
i) Jesus was not created on the day that He was born in Bethlehem.
ii) His flesh may have come into existence then, but He has always been and always will be.
c. Man has a beginning point, but will also exist throughout eternity. (Heaven or Hell)
2. In (John 3:16) It says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son.”(KJV)
a. God gave His Son, but Jesus was never forced to come to this Earth to be our savior. He choose to come.
b. In (John 5:43) Jesus said, “I am come in my Father's name.” (KJV)
i) Jesus also said about the same thing in (John 10:10) He said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly.” (KJV)
ii) And in (Hebrews 10:9) Jesus said, “Lo, I come to do thy will, O God.” (KJV)
B. It’s amazing to think that Jesus would leave all the glory and spender of heaven, all the power that He had, and set it aside to become a man, born a baby.
1. Look at PHIL 2:7-8
a. In the Strong’s expanded concordance the words “Of no reputation” in this V means, “Empty or of Christ laid aside equality with or the form of God.”
i) Jesus set aside all of His deity, all of His power to become a man and save us from our sins.
2. Look at HEB 2:9
a. Jesus was made lower than the angels.
i) When was He made lower than the angels?
ii) Only when He became a man. Born that Christmas morning.
b. Later on after Jesus resurrection we see from the Word that God exalted Jesus.
i) Look at EPH 1:19-21
ii) He has been exalted above every name that is named.
c. (Philippians 2:9-10) Says, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: (10) That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth.” (KJV)
II. Jesus had to be born in that manger for us to become the son’s of God, but it couldn’t stop there.
A. He had to live a sinless life.
1. (Hebrews 4:15) “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin.” (KJV)
a. He is the Lamb without spot or blemish.
2. He had to die, He had to be raised from the dead and He had to ascend into heaven.
B. All those events needed to take place for us to have salvation, but there is something that is so special, so precious about the BLOOD OF JESUS.
1. 1PET 1:18-19
a. That blood will never loose it’s power.
b. There is redeeming power in the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
i) This V says that we were not redeemed with corruptible things, but with the precious Blood of Jesus.
ii) The word “Redeemed” which is implied in both of these verses means “To deliver: from evils of every kind, internal and external.”
iii) Not only is there REDEEMING POWER IN THE BLOOD of the Lord Jesus Christ, there is DELIVERING POWER.
2. HEB 9:6-14; 19-28
a. In the Old Covenant, the sacrifices of the different animals could not take away sin.
i) They were only a type or a shadow of the Lord Jesus Christ.
b. The High Priest had to enter into the holy place every year and offer the blood of these animals.
i) But Jesus entered into the heavenly Holy of Holies once for all and offered His shed blood there to provide for us salvation.
ii) With salvation comes all the promises of God.
iii) There is saving power in the Blood of Jesus.
3. (Acts 20:28) Says, “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.” (KJV)
a. The word “PURCHASED” here means “To Reserve, To Leave Or Keep Safe, Lay By, To Make To Remain For One's Self.”
i) He has keep us safe for Himself. After all we are the Bride of Christ.
b. There is Purchasing power in the Blood of Jesus.
C. Turn with me to 1 last scripture REV 12:11
1. There is Victory in the Blood of Jesus.
