Luke 24:1-12
The resurrection, something to fantastic, to amazing for even the apostles to believe at first.
If it wasn’t true, why would those other apostles later give their lives. Why would they live a life being banished, beaten, and killed. Why would they endure that if it wasn’t true?
The Crucifixion was Ordained by God
The apostles, after Jesus as brutally killed; they are now sulking, morning the loss of their friend and savior.
They were so sure that He was the Messiah, but the Romans had defeated him and now He was gone.
What they had forgotten was that this was something that was spoken of by Jesus.
Matthew 16:21 ESV
21 From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.
It shouldn’t have been a surprise, Jesus hadn’t been defeated by evil. It wasn’t that evil had triumphed over good. This had been God’s plan from the beginning of time.
Acts 2:23 ESV
23 this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.
Nothing catches God by surprise.
God loves us and wants a relationship with us, but we are sinful, God is Holy and Just.
God could not maintain His justice, His righteousness and let us enter into His kingdom.
He makes a way, by Jesus paying the price for our for us. By doing so God was able to maintain His Holiness and satisfy His justice because a price had been paid. He could also demonstrate His love and let us in because we weren’t the one’s who had to pay it.
It doesn’t end with the death of Jesus, far from it.
God Vindicated Jesus
Jesus when He was on earth said allot of controversial things.
I AM the way the truth the life, no one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
No one knows the Father except the son. Matt 11:27
When you see me, you’ve seen the Father. John 14:9
No one comes to Jesus unless the Father draws Him. John 6:44
There is a day of judgement coming, and you will give an account for every word you have spoken. Matt 12:36
Not everyone enters the kingdom. Some will be thrown where their is wailing and gnashing of teeth.
The world judged and condemned Him to death as a liar, blasphemer, and a false prophet.
Upon that cross He took the sin of the world, not His own sin but ours to the grave.
Today we celebrate when He conquered death and 1 Tim 3:16 tells us:
1 Timothy 3:16 ESV
16 Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.
Vindicated by the Spirit.
Jesus rising from the dead was sign of God justifying Him, showing that everything that Jesus has said was true.
Only someone truly righteous, someone without sin, would be able to conquer death.
There are lots of guru’s out there, claiming to have the truth, claiming to have the secrets to eternal life.
They are all dead, Jesus is the only one who’s words are backed by death having no hold on Him.
Divine Identity
Jesus, though He was in this world, He wasn’t of this world. He was the creator of this world.
John 17:5 ESV
5 And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.
Romans 1:1–4 ESV
1 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, 2 which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, 3 concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh 4 and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord,
v.4 The divinity of Jesus was proven through His resurrection.
Why is the Resurrection Important?
I hope that you can answer this question with ease.
The resurrection shows the truthfulness to the claims of Jesus, it proves that He is God, and without it, we as Christians have nothing!!
1 Corinthians 15:17 ESV
17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.
If Jesus didn’t actually rise, we are still in sin, we should be pitied more than any other.
1 Corinthians 15:20–22 ESV
20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
Through Adam we have all inherited sin, through Jesus we have inherited life.
Because Jesus rose from the dead, we will all rise as well.
As long as you know Him as your Lord and Savior. nothing is more important than this.

Communion

1 Cor 11:23-26
We don’t believe that this becomes the literal body and blood of Jesus.
But there is something sacred, a way that we fellowship together and with God recognizing the suffering that Jesus had when we take communion.
Cup, the new covenant is through what Jesus did on the cross. No longer a covenant of works, but a covenant of grace.
