WED.  11/15/89                                                                                                                              P.1 SOME SAY THAT T BOOK OF PROVERBS IS T MOST PRACTICAL BOOK OF T BIBLE.  ALL OF T BIBLE IS PRACTICAL & IT REALLY RELATES TO LIFE. WEATHER IT BE PRAYER, FASTING, DELIVERANCE, HEALING, USING OUR AUTHORITY, OR WHATEVER; IT'S ALL PRACTICAL. BUT I THINK THAT T BOOK OF PROVERBS IS T MOST PRACTICAL IN T NATURAL SENSE.

            I. Lets look again at V. 1‑5.  How are we going to find t knowledge of God for our own personal life? Or you could say `How are we going to find t WILL of God for our life'?

                        A. 1st of all in V 1 it says `RECEIVE MY WORDS'.

                             1. In order for you to receive his words, you need to have an open heart to them.

                                                a. We must receive t bible as t infallible word of God.

                                                b. In other words we need to receive t WORD of God as t TRUTH. Not just a truth but t TRUTH.

                             2. (2TI 3:16) All scripture {is} given by inspiration of God, and {is} profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (KJV)

                                                a. T Word of God will get us back on track & will instruct us in t will of God.

                             3. (ROM 12:2) And be not conformed to this world: (don't think as t world thinks), but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, (get into t Word of God) that ye may prove what {is} that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.  (KJV)

                        B. After you receive t Word of God, you must `Keep it in your Heart'. (PRO 2:1) says, and hide my commandments with thee;   The NIV says ``and store up my commands within you'.

                             1. LUKE 8:5,8,11‑12,15

                                                a. If we want to have God's blessings & His will in our lives, we have to keep his word in our hearts.

                                                b. Depending on how well you keep it in your heart will give fruit some 30 fold, some 60 fold, some 100 fold.

                             2. (LUK 11:28) But he said, Yea rather, blessed {are} they that hear the word of God, and keep it. (KJV)

                             3. DEUT 28:45 This says `Not Keeping His Commandments'.

                                                a. But what will happen if we do keep his commandments.

                                                b. Well we have a long list of blessings listed here & we will be in t will of God.

                        C. Back in PRO 2:2 It SAYS,  So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom.  T Word of God is Wisdom.

                             1. Jesus said back in (LUK 8:18) Take heed therefore how ye hear.

                                                a. Sometimes we hear something but we don't really here it.

                                                b. A common example is when people are watching T.V. T wife would ask t her husband to do something, and he would agree to it, but he didn't really hear her. He may have just said yes so she would stop talking & he could hear t football game or whatever.

                                                c. People have said thing to me when I was doing something else, & I heard them & meant to do it, but because my mind was on something else I forgot it, where I wouldn't have forgotten it if I took heed to what was being said.

                        D. After you've RECEIVED t WORD, KEEP THEM IN YOUR HEART, & TAKING HEED TO WHAT YOU HEAR, (PRO 2:2) apply thine heart to understanding.  I take that to mean, Apply what you've just learned, or you could say DO WHAT YOU'VE HEARD.

                             1. ? Did you know that you can be deceived & not have any false doctrine?

                             2. JAMES 1:22 By not doing t Word your deceived.

                                                a. ? What does James mean by deceived?

                                                b. Well, lets read on. V. 23‑25

                             3. In other words, If you think that you're going to be blessed by God & not be a doer of t word, you're deceived.

                                                a. James says, If you want to be blessed than you must be a doer of t Word.

                                                b. Look at JAMES 2:19‑20  T devils know that there is a God, a miracle working God, but it does them no good.

                                                c. Our faith is going to do us no good, if we don't put our works together w/ our faith.

                                                d. Look at V 26  That means that our faith isn't going to do us any good, we wont have any of t blessing of God, if we don't do t works of Him that sent us.

                             4. DEUT 28:1‑13  This is all your's & much more, if you're a doer of t Word.

                        E. After you have RECEIVED T WORD OF GOD, your KEEPING THEN IN YOU HEART, your TAKING HEED TO T WORD, & your DETERMINE TO DO WHAT YOU LEARN, PRO 2:4 says, If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as {for} hid treasures.

                             1. That's talking about t knowledge & wisdom of God. But just to have t knowledge of God isn't enough.

                                                a. You also have to DILIGENTLY SEEK TO KNOW GOD.

                             1. MAT 6:33

                             2. After you have RECEIVED HIS WORDS, KEPT THEM IN YOUR HEART, TAKEN HEED TO HIS WORD, BECOME A DOER OF T WORD, & GOTTEN TO KNOW HIM THRU FELLOWSHIP & PRAYER, THEN THOU SHALT UNDERSTAND WHAT GOD'S WILL IS FOR YOU LIFE.
