HOOK

Let’s resume and see what happened when Jesus fed the 5,000— yesterday we just covered the first five verses and from them we saw some examples to follow, principles to apply, and festivals to remember
An example to follow is when you saw Jesus miracle happening in your life— follow Him
Going to an occasional retreat is something we learned yesterday— Jesus is not going to do such things for nothing
Remembering the past will guide us into the future— remembering “Passover” reminds us of God’s grace— Jesus became our Passover Sacrificial Lamb
Now open your Bible and turn it to John 6:6

BOOK

John 6:6–15 NLT
6 He was testing Philip, for he already knew what he was going to do. 7 Philip replied, “Even if we worked for months, we wouldn’t have enough money to feed them!” 8 Then Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up. 9 “There’s a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd?” 10 “Tell everyone to sit down,” Jesus said. So they all sat down on the grassy slopes. (The men alone numbered about 5,000.) 11 Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and distributed them to the people. Afterward he did the same with the fish. And they all ate as much as they wanted. 12 After everyone was full, Jesus told his disciples, “Now gather the leftovers, so that nothing is wasted.” 13 So they picked up the pieces and filled twelve baskets with scraps left by the people who had eaten from the five barley loaves. 14 When the people saw him do this miraculous sign, they exclaimed, “Surely, he is the Prophet we have been expecting!” 15 When Jesus saw that they were ready to force him to be their king, he slipped away into the hills by himself.

LOOK

HE WAS TESTING PHILIP
Every now and the the Lord is going to test our faith
WE WOULDN’T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO FEED THEM!
Philip was worried about the cost
BUT WHAT GOOD IS THAT WITH THIS HUGE CROWD
Andrew was worried about the quantity
THEY ALL SAT DOWN ON THE GRASSY SLOPES
After Jesus calmly told them to sit down— grassy is indicative of green pasture [abundance]
While Philip was worried about the cost, and Andres was concerned about the quantity— Jesus offers calmness and abundance— PSALM 23
SO NOTHING IS WASTED
It is impressive that Jesus could teach us a lot of things even in simplest ways possible
WHEN THE PEOPLE SAW HIM DO THIS MIRACULOUS SIGNS
Again the principle of “come and see”— People follow Jesus after they see
HE SLIPPED AWAY INTO THE HILLS BY HIMSELF
Why?— because it’s not yet his time— remember what He said to his mother, Mary, when they were in Cana— let’s go back to it and be reminded— JOHN 2:4

TOOK
