HOOK

From the first part of the narrative of events when the Lord declared that He is the Bread of Life we learned these principles to live by:
I WILL SEEK JESUS WITH THE RIGHT REASONS
I WILL FEED ON THE BREAD THAT DOESN’T EXPIRE
GOD WILL PROVIDE MY DAILY NEEDS
From yesterday we saw how the conversation about bread started— it started when Jesus accused the people who came looking for him that they seek him not because of the signs he did but because they ate his bread and fish and got filled— seeking the Lord with wrong reasons
Their conversation led to the time with God provided manna and quail to the Israelites while wandering in the wilderness
This morning we will see how Jesus responded to that— open you Bible to John 6:32— type amen as you get there..

BOOK

John 6:32–39 NIV
32 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34 “Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.” 35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. 37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. 38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.

LOOK

THE BREAD OF GOD IS THE BREAD THAT COMES DOWN FROM HEAVEN AND GIVES LIFE TO THE WORLD
Here you can see Jesus classic— again, he is used earthly things to teach them heavenly matters
The people are having trouble understanding— believing because their minds are set on earthly things [needs]
I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE.
Since the audience continues to miss the point that Jesus is referring to Himself as the one sent by God, Jesus makes the point explicit [clearly— in detail]
WHOEVER COMES TO ME WILL NEVER GO HUNGER, AND WHOEVER BELIEVES IN ME WILL NEVER BE THIRSTY
First you see the word “come”, and then followed by the word “believe”— come and believe
Jesus was alluding to the OT expectations of divine redemption [ISAIAH 49:10]
WHOEVER COMES TO ME I WILL NEVER DRIVE AWAY
Jesus rejects no one
I SHALL LOSE NONE OF ALL THOSE HE HAS GIVEN ME, BUT RAISE THEM UP AT THE LAST DAY
Theology of eternal security— two contentious school of thoughts here— Arminian & Calvinist doctrines collides against each other
There are tons of scriptures that we need to consult to receive a Holy Spirit-guided and education about this doctrine— we will take our time on this because this is super important— just to crack your head to think about this, let me give you a couple of verses
As an assignment— I’d like you to ponder on deeply on the eternal security or conditional security
This contentious matter has been going on the church of Jesus for very long long time— but as a follower of Jesus, you must come to the point where you have to decide what you believe without finding fault on others who do not agree with you
No one lives in him keeps on sinning {1 JOHN 3:6]
Jesus said He shall lose none of all those he has given me— once save always saved [JOHN 6:39]
Here’s another one— no one will snatch them out of my hand [JOHN 10:28]
Continue to work out your salvation [PHILIPPIANS 2:12]
But EPHESIANS 2:8-9 said, salvation is not by works

TOOK

I MUST FIRST COME TO JESUS TO BELIEVE HIM
IS MY SALVATION SECURED?
DO I HAVE TO WORK ON MY SALVATION?
