Have you experienced the sheer panic of losing control. I have had panic set in multiple times swimming.
To me anxiety can feel a bit like watching yourself drown alone. And you can feel like you are calling out to yourself to just swim but you cant.
What is anxiety? Its a response to stress…more in the feeling category.
Now everyone deals with some level of anxiety and some people suffer from anxiety disorders.
“Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength.”
- Charles Spurgeon
Depression is a mood disorder characterized by despondency and overwhelming sadness. Anxiety is an overwhelming worry or stress related to the perceived inevitability that an adverse event or outcome will occur.
The New International Version Chapter 12

25 Anxiety weighs down the heart,

but a kind word cheers it up.

The New King James Version Chapter 12

Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression,

According to King Solomon, when there’s anxiety in your mind—in your thoughts, in your imaginations, deep in your well—the result is depression in your emotions and feelings. The point is this: How we think influences how we feel.
-John mark comer
“Anxiety exposes idolatry. We worry about what we worship. We worry about the things we are passionate about, the things we center ourselves around.” - John Mark Comer
“The presence of anxiety is unavoidable, but the prison of anxiety is optional.” ― Max Lucado,

The New International Version Chapter 5

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

The New International Version Chapter 6

19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.

The definition of Anchor comes from the Latin word ancora, “anchor,” and from the Greek word ankyra, “anchor, hook”—that which gives stability or security. It’s where we also get the work ankle from.
Anchors are created to connect a vessel to a foundation that is secure. It helps a something not drift away. They hold us firm and secure.

The New International Version Chapter 2

We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. 2

Jesus wants to deliver you from the demise of drift. He wants to be the anchor for your soul.

John
New Living Translation Chapter 15

4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you.

Phillipians
The New International Version Chapter 4

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

In 2010, more than 253 million prescriptions were written for anti-depressants in the U.S. [2] Did you catch that? 253 million. The nation only has 311 million people!
