Born for Relationships

Not good that man dwell alone - helper
First man Adam was in relationship
With: God, his creator, Eve, his wife, Eden, enviroment
But how are we to live in these relationship’s?
Start with self
I. Me and Myself
A. Where do we start in thinking about our relationship with ourselves
1. Understand the importance of living with yourself
a. Live with yourself everyday
b. most likely talk to yourself more than anyone else
1) how you view yourself and how you talk to yourself is important
II. Some Important Questions to Ask Yourself
A. Where did I come from? What am I doing here? Where Am I Going?
1. Questions have been asked by mankind from the beginning.
2. Many answers
a. science - evolved from monkeys. Where did the monkeys come from?
Monkeys - fish, snails, then, dinosaurs, then apes, then man
Where did all that come from? Big bang - of what? Some cosmic mass
Where did that come from? Who or what caused the big bang?
Out of that, how did things come into the order we see today?
B. Bible teaches that you and I are created beings?
1. Someone with intellect and purpose created you and me.
a. we are not products of some mindless cosmic explosion
b. we are children of God made in his image
C. Fearfully and wonderfully made - Psalm 139, a psalm of David
II. God Knows Me
A. There is someone who knows me and understands my thoughts
1. rising and my sitting, knows all my activities all the day
2. Understands the motives behind what I do.
3. Acquainted with all my ways: the good, the bad, the ugly
a. there is not a word on my tongue - aware of all my conversations
4. Judged me, laid Your hand upon me - from herding sheep to leading people
B. This is to great for my understanding - to high for me
1. His ways are not ours, nor his thoughts our thoughts
2. Ways are higher than our for He sees from a different perspective
III. God is With Me
A. First impulse is to get away from this God that knows so much about me
1. We’re afraid that if God knows about us, He will not love us
a. afraid if we are transparent people wont like us, respect us - we hide
B. But where is He going to go?
1. Into heaven (atmosphere, sky) God is there
2. Bed in hell (grave) - God is there
3. Fly away to the uttermost parts of the sea (where no one has gone) God is there
a. no matter where I go God is there to lead and guide me
4. Darkness and light are the same to God
a. darkness cannot hide me from His judgment
b. God sees in the dark, done in secret shall be brought to light
c. cup of cold water, (smallest act of love and kindness) will not lose it reward
C. God is everywhere there is no getting away from Him
IV. God Has Made Me
A. You have formed my inward parts (emotional, psychological and spiritual make up)
1. You put me together (pre-determined my physical make-up
B. You are no accident
1. unplanned by man but planned by God
a. parents did not plan for you; result of an unwanted pregnancy, but you are wanted by
God; rape, incest, still made in the image of God
2. Every person has value as an image bearer of God
C. I will praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made
1. David is aware that God intentionally planned for him
a. created by a God who does everything with forethought and purpose
b. we’re not an afterthought of God but Divinely purposed to live
c. we often wonder if we have any significance. Can it really be true that God has a plan
for me?
d. Like David, we confess, this is too high for us to comprehend - we must accept it by
faith
e. No matter the circumstance of your birth, the circumstance of your life is to bring
honor and glory to God.
D. Devil will to do Two Things
1. Undervalue your life or overvalue your life.
a. Undervalue: God doesn’t care about you and your life doesn’t matter
b. Over value: Look at you. See what you’ve done. You’re the cat’s meow.
1) (1 Corinthians 10:12) Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
2. We must have humility with a high value on life
a. we must love ourselves, respect ourselves or else we’ll find our relationships uneven.
E. God’s Foreknowledge and Predestination
1. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was made in secret
a. at conception, God was aware of me - sanctity of life
2. You saw me - before you were a twinkle in your daddy’s eye, God saw you
a. (Jeremiah 1:5) "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations." (NKJV)
V. God Is With Me
A. David is overwhelmed by the fact that, first of all, God should even think about him.
1. What is man that you are mindful of him?
B. The weight of those thoughts are more than he can add up; God is with Him through the
night and when He awakes.
1. You are ever on God’s heart and in His mind. Why?
a) the zenith of His creation, over all the works of His hands
C. Since God is ever present David invites Him to search his heart
The God who knew him before he was born, is invited to search his heart
Check me out and discover what creates anxiety in me.
see if there is any wicked way in me
lead me in the way everlasting
see why David was a man after God’s own heart.
Conclusion: As I Think About My Relationship with Myself
A. That God created me. I am not an accident
B. The One who created me, knows me
C. The One created me is with me
D. The One who created me, knows me and is with me can reveal my true self to me.
He has a purpose for my life and it is my duty to discover that.
The only way to know that is to be born again by receiving Christ as my Savior
opens us the door of communication between me an God
Give unto me His Holy Spirit, who has come to guide us into all truth.
