I am coming soon

This is an unprecedented time
Infographic - COVID 19, from non-existent to the #1 cause of death worldwide in 6 months
There is economic devastation, stress all around
added to that the social unrest in the most powerful country in the world
Where is the hope? How do we face this present crisis.
Of all the voices in the world, I can conficently and boldy declare - Jesus is the answer, the only answer.
He said: “I am the way, the truth, the life.”
Nothing else makes sense when you anlayze it.
Our world has rejected God and with it truth. WE have plunged ourselves into chaos and madness.
Today my topic is:

I am coming soon

taken from 22.7
Repeated 3 x in Ch 22
‘Come’’ used numerous times in Rev.
Revelation 1:7 ESV
Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
God introduces Himslef as the
Revelation 1:8 ESV
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
He tells the church repeatedly - I will come to you.
Pergamum - I will come to you soon
Sardis - I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you.
To the Philadelphian church -  I am coming soon.
Revelation 3:20 ESV
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
Then He invites John in
Revelation 4:1 ESV
After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.”
The four living creatures surrounding the throne cry out night and day, they never cease to say

“Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty,

who was and is and is to come!”

Throughout Revelation, we have this sense of the imminence of the coming of Christ and sure enough the last chapter, the very last chapter of Scripture compels us all to focus our attention and listen to the call of God
I am coming soon.
How do we respond to Jesus’ promise?

Obedience

Revelation 22:6–10 ESV
And he said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true. And the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent his angel to show his servants what must soon take place.” “And behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.” I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.” And he said to me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near.
Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.
Obedience
God’s Word is not for information purposes, to satisfy curiosity, for us to say - “I have a Bachelor’s in Theology.”
Not for information but transformation.
James puts it nicely:
James 1:22 ESV
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
We can be obedient because 22.6 “These words are trustworthy and true.
When I compare the promises of politicians, statesmen, leaders today with God’s Word, I choose put my trust in Him
25% verses are prophetic.
God prmised Jesus will come the first time. HE was on time and fufilled every detail.
Is he said he’d return
John was so impacted by this all the visions, he fell at the feet of the angel to worship him
The angel responded -
Revelation 22:12 ESV
“Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done.
Reward.
God will repay, reward, recompense.
He can because He sees and knows everything.
Past, present and future are all before Him.
Ill - cave.
Reward the saints - those who washed their robes
Reward those outside.
Jesus identifies Himself as Alpha and Omega.
Revelation 22:20 ESV
He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
The longing.
The Spirit
The Bride
THe one who is thirsty
