The Last Day

We have been talking about the last days
there will be a tribulation
before the tribulation there will be “birth pains”, or the beginning of sorrows. I believe that this time is now
There will be witnesses, and martyrs
there will be an anti-Christ, a beast and a false prophet
There will be wars leading to the battle of Armageddon
And finally, there will be a “last day”
Not in the sense that there will not be any days after that...
the millennial kingdom follows
This is the place where the lion and the ox eat grass together
this is the place where there is worldwide peace
There will also be industry and enterprise (the nations bring their fruit)
but there will be a final day of this present era
this day will be so spectacular it will surpass anything that has ever been described as shock and awe
The bible has prophesied of this day for thousands of years
Daniel 12:1–3 NKJV
1 “At that time Michael shall stand up, The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; And there shall be a time of trouble, Such as never was since there was a nation, Even to that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, Every one who is found written in the book. 2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever.
In Daniel Chapter 7, he described the outcome of this day when he referred to the antichrist
Daniel 7:21–22 NKJV
21 “I was watching; and the same horn was making war against the saints, and prevailing against them, 22 until the Ancient of Days came, and a judgment was made in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came for the saints to possess the kingdom.
Daniel 7:25–27 NKJV
25 He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, Shall persecute the saints of the Most High, And shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand For a time and times and half a time. 26 ‘But the court shall be seated, And they shall take away his dominion, To consume and destroy it forever. 27 Then the kingdom and dominion, And the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, Shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And all dominions shall serve and obey Him.’
Peter saw it as a day of terrible destruction and asked the question, how should we be living?
2 Peter 3:9–11 NKJV
9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,
In one magnificient day, all of the events of history, and of the last days will come to this final conclusion
AS we discussed last week, the church will already be hidden in the wilderness, dead for all intent and purpose
although there will still be a great deal of wars and tribulation, there will also be a great deal of commerce and actiuvity
the leaders of the world will finally be free, so they think, to do their wickedness
People who are left will be marrying and giving in marriage
they will still be buying and selling
the superpower governments will be going into the battle of Armageddon, each thinking hat they can win somehow
And then suddenly, from one end of heaven to the other, Jesus will be seen
there will be a loud noise, unlike anything that has ever been heard
there will be angels and splendor
the righteous will be raised from the dead
Christians will be transformed,
and the rest will die - cast into hell
Jesus will establish His throne on Earth
Jesus spoke of this day in John 6
John 6:38–40 NKJV
38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39 This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. 40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
John 6:53–58 NKJV
53 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. 56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. 58 This is the bread which came down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”
So Jesus described this as a day that you can look wonderfully forward to, if you know Him
If you are one of hose who is in communion with HIm
If your life is built on the rock
If The Lord is your refuge, and your dwellingplace
If you are willing to reject the evil of this day, looking to Jesus
And in another place in Mathew he spoke of those who are not.
Matthew 7:21–23 NKJV
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Folks this should give shivers to every person
to those who are living their lives as though He will not come, you should tremble
to those who claim to be Christians, but practice lawlessness, you should fall on your knees and pray, this very day, seeking His grace with fear and trembling
To those who do know Jesus, we should awake every day being mindful of just how many souls will be lost forever on that day, becasue they did not Know Jesus, and had not come to Him in faith. This should be the most important priority in every Christian’s life
this is more important than you bank account
more important than you retirement savings
more important than your college plans
more important than your emotional well being
more than your balanced lifestyle, or social network, or anything else you might measure your life by.
There will be a Last Day at the end of these last days
Are you ready?
Are your loved ones ready
How many do you know that are not?
