A Broken Promise

Where there is a promise, there is a fear.

Me: Promise. Fear promise won’t be fulfilled. Story of broken promise. - Where there is a promise, there is fear.
We: More promises broken, less trusting. Enough promise breakers, we won’t trust promise makers. We won’t make promises anymore either – because we don’t want to let people down. And anyone who tries to be a promise maker, we only see them as a promise breaker in waiting. - We experience broken promises: marital affairs, never came back, example, example, example.
- So those of us who have experienced broken promises, our antennae rise, and we become skeptical. Where there is a promise, there is fear. And if you’ve ever been hurt by a broken promise, you’ve likely blamed yourself.

Abraham’s Promise

God: When Paul wrote the church at Rome, he was trying to communicate that God can be trustworthy and that a) God’s a promise maker not a promise breaker B) God’s promise is not based on your actions, but God’s grace. c)
What is God’s promise: 5:1; 5:8
You: “Do you believe God will do what God promised to do in your life?” Do You believe that God will walk with you through this season into the next one? Do you have faith that God, who raised Christ from the dead, sees your faith and claims you to be his very own?
