Ever felt like you were drowning? Like you had no control and nothing to grab onto?
In those moments we need to be rescued.
In life we can learn to swim and feel invincible, but there are some things that without God’s grace, would destroy us.
We need to be rescued.
Biblical:
Jonah ran away from God
He ran away from God’s call to warn his enemies of coming judgement
God desired to reach out with His grace to those undeserving

Now Jonah is in the water, thrown overboard in response to a threatening storm
He was in need of rescue

Distress causes us to call out to God who hears
“Jonah prayed to the LORD his God”
Distress comes by the will of God who cares
